Volume 207 | July 2025 in Review

| July Treasure Talk 2025!

Where, oh where has this summer gone? We at AACY are excited for you and for us to get back in school and learning!. School will start in less than two weeks!

How will this year be different for you?

I agree with Dr. Seuss, who says, "You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose."

With a similar message, "The capacity to learn is a gift, the ability to learn is a skill, and the willingness to learn is a choice" - Brian Herbert

We at AACY are here to support and invest in you - for today and for your future. Your knowledge is something that no one can take away from you!

This year, please make a choice to invest in yourself - you will be glad you did!

| Activities Recap & Preview:

Greetings, CYP Friends!

July was packed with good times, new experiences, and lots of memories!

We started the month with Summer Camp Treasure, and because so many of you signed up, we had to turn it into a 2-day adventure! You all crushed it on the ropes course, had fun swimming, played games, ate good food, and took part in some really great workshops.

It was awesome seeing everyone connect and enjoy themselves.

Next up, many of you joined us for the Spirit of Giving Back to School Event, where you picked up free school supplies, checked out community resources, and got hyped for the upcoming school year.

Later in the month, Path to College hosted a powerful 2-day College Prep Workshop just for you. You got the inside scoop on everything from college applications to financial aid, and we hope you left feeling more confident about your future!

To wrap things up, you participated in the Teen Leadership Summer Program, sponsored by the Fuller Center. You toured Palm Beach State College - Lake Worth Campus and had some well-deserved fun at Astro Skate!

We’re proud of you for showing up, learning, and making the most of every opportunity. Let’s keep the energy going into August!

Don't forget to check out your event photos on our Instagram @caregivingyouthproject! Be sure to keep an eye out for more upcoming activities as well.

Thank you.

| Summer Camp Treasure July 2025

Over two fun-filled days, more than 100 students in AACY’s Caregiving Youth Project came together for Camp Treasure at FAU!

Camp Treasure is a special tradition that gives Caregiving Youth a break from their responsibilities and lets them just be kids. This year, we split the camp into two days so about 50 students could come each day.

The goal? Have fun, make friends, try something new, and take time to relax and focus on themselves.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make it happen - especially the kind volunteers from Community Servant Leaders, who made the goodie bags. We appreciate you!

| Summer Fun with Art and Friends!

This summer, some of our Caregiving Youth had a chance to take a break and have fun with art, thanks to a special program from the Manipura Care Network and AACY.

On the first day, students visited an art space where they met real artists, saw a cool group show, and even got to take home a book from a community library.

On the second day, they went to the Norton Museum of Art. There, they sketched in the galleries, asked awesome questions on the tour, and made their own mini sculptures.

We’re so grateful for the caring adults and partners who made this creative and inspiring week possible!

| A Break from Caregiving and a Great Day of Bowling

We loved seeing so many of you from Boynton Beach at AMF Boynton Beach Lanes!

Thanks to the support of Healthier Boynton Beach, you got a real break from caregiving - a day to bowl, laugh, eat good food, and just have fun.

It was great to watch you enjoy yourselves and spend time with others who understand what you do at home.

Being a caregiver is a big responsibility. You deserve moments like this to relax and just be a kid.

We’re so grateful to everyone who helped make the day happen. You inspire us every single day.

| We Support You:

We're here to support you on your caregiving journey. We'll share fun and educational content, inspiring stories from caregivers who are students or people around the world who are trying to help, and reminders that you're not alone. Thank you for all that you do for your family.

| PBS and Well Beings Want to Hear from Caregiving Youth

"Some teens are studying for finals.

Others are preparing meals, managing medications, and caring for family—often without anyone noticing.

Over 5 million youth are caregivers in the U.S., and many of their stories go untold.

That’s why @WellBeingsOrg is encouraging teen caregivers to share their story. Whether caregiving is a full-time reality or just one part of your life, your experiences deserve to be seen, heard, and understood." - Wellbeings

| Caregiving Youth Are in Textbooks!

Caregiving Youth are finally being seen, and now future nurses will learn about them too.

We are proud to share that both Caregiving Youth and AACY’s work were included in both the 6th and 7th editions of Family Health Care Nursing: Theory, Practice, and Research.

This family nursing textbook is used in 200 schools in the United States and Canada.

Thanks to Dr. Kimberly Kintz and Dr. Mindy Zeitzer from Linfield University, Oregon, more nursing students will learn what it is like to be a Caregiving Youth.

This is an important step. Caregiving Youth should be recognized in every system that supports children, including healthcare, education, and social work.

| Caregiving Youth Project Participating Schools!

Join us and spread the word! To participate in our program, Caregiving Youth Project (CYP) participants must reside in Palm Beach County and can be referred through personal outreach, recommendations from school staff, or other organizations. Our support is provided both at school and in the home.

If you are a Caregiving Youth or know someone who is but they don't live in Palm Beach County, please encourage them to email us at info@aacy.org. We are committed to helping them find resources, no matter where they reside in the United States.

Many Thanks to Our Partners:
