Caribbean Scene needs your helping hand

Dear Friends and Family of Caribbean Scene,

We've had a wonderful response so far from many and would like to thank you for supporting the Caribbean Scene Group over the last 7 years.

On 31st May 2013, a case against Newham Council was filed at the High Court in view of the appalling treatment that has been meted out to Caribbean Scene Family Stratford over the last 6 years.

Our restaurant, Caribbean Scene, had become a noted landmark in Stratford, and was known as a place where the public could come and enjoy delicious Caribbean food.

Ever since we opened our restaurant it's been our aim to raise awareness of Caribbean food, and provide a great environment where people could enjoy this mouthwatering cuisine.

The general public will not be aware, and will never know the half of what the group has had to endure in order to achieve this goal, and as mentioned above, we have had to file a case against Newham Council.

We have supported and will continue to support the community in many ways, including providing work experience for local students and teaching local school children about the diversity of Caribbean cuisine & culture:

The general public saw Caribbean Scene Family as a legacy for the community; a place they could call their own.

On a daily basis we receive numerous calls from upset customers asking when we are to reopen - and with your support we may be able to do so.

Newham Council's Negligence
This pool of slimy, smelly water remained outside the restaurant for 3 years until weeks before the Olympics

The last straw was on 26th November 2012 when we had to close due to flooding caused as a result of negligence by Newham Council, as landlord failing to act, despite numerous warnings from us regarding a faulty drainage pipe.

The pipe is in the structure of the building which was strictly their responsibility and we could not touch it as we would be breaching the terms of our lease.

Our insurance company has denied our claim as they expressed that the landlord "it would appear, is the party responsible for this damage."

We would like ask you to help us gain further support in whatever way you can.With your support we will claim back what rightfully belongs to our community.
