Community Care Northumberland's 8th Annual Adopt a Grandparent Program Begins

For the eighth year, we are excited to bring holiday joy to seniors through our Adopt a Grandparent program. Last year, we brightened the holidays for over 130 seniors with meaningful gifts.

You can drop off gifts at our local offices by December 6th. If you’d like to adopt a grandparent, you can also donate to the program, and our staff will do the shopping. We kindly ask that you avoid homemade baked goods, and if you’re donating handmade items, please include washing instructions. Gift cards and certificates for Community Care Northumberland programs are also welcome.

If you'd like to adopt a grandparent this year, please reach out to us at 1-866-514-5774 or wellness@commcare.ca. Your thoughtfulness in selecting gifts is greatly appreciated!

“Thank you for my wonderful Christmas gift. It was an amazing surprise that made my Christmas so much brighter.”

Volunteering

As the demand for our services continues to grow, CCN is continually looking to recruit volunteers for all programs.

One key area we need help with is our Meals on Wheels program. We’re currently seeking Meals on Wheels drivers in Port Hope to assist with meal deliveries and make a positive impact in our community!

If you or someone you know is interested, please contact Colleen Venema, our Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator, at volunteer@commcare.ca or visit www.commcare.ca to learn more.

Transportation Services

Volunteer Transportation Spotlight

We’re shining a spotlight on one of our amazing Volunteer Transportation Drivers, Peter.

When asked why he became a volunteer driver, Peter shared, “I wanted to be able to help people in need of a drive who no longer can do it themselves. When I hear them say they are so grateful to have a service like this, it just warms my heart. Giving back is such a rewarding experience!” He also loves hearing all the wonderful life stories people tell him during drives.

A huge thank you to Peter and all of our incredible transportation volunteers for their invaluable support in our community!
