A Note From Our Executive Director
|
Dear friend of 4Cs,
At 4Cs we believe that the whole-child approach to serving families with little ones is extraordinarily important. While access to high-quality child care remains a pillar of a child’s well-being and a core support that 4Cs is proud to provide for thousands of little ones, the needs for other essential programs continues to grow and we continue to expand and strengthen our services to include other wraparound services. Of these additional supports, the critical need for diapers has grown exponentially over the past few years. As a family resource agency trusted by so many, families with infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children are turning to us frequently as their diaper supplies diminish. While we do our best to meet the demand, we need you to help us continue to serve these neighbors struggling to have enough diapers to keep their youngest family members healthy and clean. Join us through September 15th as we restock our diaper pantry. You can donate here between now and September 15th to help us fulfill this great need. Because of our bulk diaper purchasing power, your donations go even further in helping our youngest community members remain healthy and thrive.
With Gratitude,
Renee S. Herzfeld

The addition of Alex Boskovich, Caroline Cortezia, Savitha Moorthy, Rosemary Obeid, Samantha Oropeza, and Imani Perry make 4Cs’ Board the most diverse – and largest – in 4Cs' five decades of commitment to Alameda County’s children, families, and child care providers. We are thrilled that these incredible women stepped up to join our brilliant group of Board members as we usher in a new decade of service to the Alameda County Community. You can learn more about them, and our entire leadership team, here.

Sending Children Back to School in Style
|
|
As Alameda County students have started heading back to the classroom, 4Cs wanted to offer families support with their necessary-but-costly supplies. Our first back-to-school event was held on July 22 in the courtyard of our Oakland office, where we were able to give away 108 backpacks, as well as books and diapers. We followed up with a second event on July 29 in the open-air garage of our Hayward office, where we provided 230 backpacks, along with shoes, gently-used clothes, books, toiletries, and diapers. Finally, we assisted 80 more children at a make-up event on August 5, with a total of 421 backpacks distributed to Transitional Kindergarten/Kindergarten students and elementary school students. The photos say it all!
None of our work would be possible without generous donations from businesses, foundations, and organizations that care about children and families. These include major donors Help a Mother Out and the Piccinini Pesco Family Fund at the East Bay Community Foundation, who supported our efforts at the Game-Changer and Pacesetter levels respectively. We also wish to thank those donors who provided support at the Influencer level, including Blaisdell’s Business Products, Blue Shield of California, First 5 of Alameda County, Operation Warm, and the Oakland Literacy Coalition in partnership with the Eat.Learn.Play Foundation. Finally, we are grateful to PC Investments, 4Cs board members, and staff members who collaborated in making these events possible.

Hayward Promise Neighborhoods (HPN) Diaper Distribution
|
It's time! The Hayward Promise Neighborhoods partners, including 4Cs of Alameda County, California State University East Bay, Alameda Public Health Department, Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center, and Promotoras are preparing to distribute diaper kits including children's books to registered families within the South Hayward Promise Neighborhoods (SHPN) footprint. Thanks to the help of staff and volunteers, this will be the 4th distribution of the year!
This year, the Early Learning Network partners have supported 115 families via our Diapers and Resources Distribution project. To meet some of the additional needs of families, our 4Cs team added a community store where registered families can access items they need while picking up their diaper kits.
The next diaper distribution will be August 18th . We need support re-stocking the store and ask that you please share with your extended network who may be able to make a tax-deductible donation/purchase via our Amazon wishlist: bit.ly/4CsHPNEssentials. You can download the flyer here.
If you have any questions or concerns or would like to arrange a time to drop off donations, please contact Diana Cortes, HPN Manager, at dianac@4c-alameda.org.
