July 2021 World of Wolves
Having A Heat Wave
Recently the temperatures in the Pacific Northwest reached over 100 degrees - well above the norm for this part of the country. People desperately sought relief for themselves and their loved ones. Many of you asked how the wolves were faring. Fortunately, the sanctuary is filled with trees, shrubs and other vegetation to provide shade and a shelter pen available in each enclosure. Our dedicated, albeit hot, animal care staff increased the frequency with which they changed water in splash tubs and water buckets, They also got particularly creative by freezing water inside the water buckets and making giant Popsicles! The cooling treats contained blueberries on the bottom and catnip on top. The wolves appeared intrigued by these novel cubes.

How about the McCleery wolves?
During summer months, it's often scorching hot in Montana - in fact, they have had a month of 100+ degree temperatures already this summer! Sadly, wildfires are increasingly common as well. One cooling off method employed by the wolves is down time in the splash tub. For Wendy, the challenge is in keeping the water inside the tub.
100 Year Anniversary
of the McCleery Wolves

In 1921, Dr. E. H. McCleery, a small-town Pennsylvania doctor distressed over the eradication of wolves began purchasing them from the government, zoos and trappers. As a result, a sanctuary was started for the "McCleery Wolves". One hundred years later, descendants of these wolves reside at McCleery Ranch in Bridger, MT and managed by Wolf Haven.

We have partnered with FLOAT (For Love of All Things), to create a one-of-a-kind design that honors the 100 year anniversary of Dr. McCleery's sanctuary.

For every shirt FLOAT sells with this unique design, they will send Wolf Haven $8 to help support the wolves. Visit our Facebook page for more information in the coming days, or head directly to FLOAT on July 26 to order yours. Only available from July 26 - August 2.
