Dear Friend,
As the leaves start to change and the air becomes crisper, we welcome the month of September as National Self-Care Month a time dedicated to nurturing our well-being and embracing the power of self-care. It's a time to acknowledge that our well-being matters, and that by taking time for ourselves, we become better equipped to support others. This is not a selfish act, but rather a necessary step in the journey of making a difference. As advocates and supporters, we can sometimes experience secondary trauma from hearing about the difficult situations our children and families go through. This is why self-care is so important. Taking care of ourselves ultimately enables us to provide better care for those we serve.

Whether it's through mindfulness practices, physical activities, creative pursuits, or simply taking time to relax, we encourage all members of our CASA family to prioritize their own self-care. Remember, self-care isn't just an individual endeavor; it's a collective commitment to building a healthier and more resilient community. By modeling self-care for our children and families, we demonstrate the value of prioritizing mental, emotional, and physical well-being.

As we embark on this journey of self-discovery and self-nurturing, let's also take a moment to reflect on the impact we've made together. Every child's life we've touched, every smile we've brought, and every positive change we've instigated - they all stem from our collective dedication and passion.

Thank you for being an integral part of CASA Lake County. Your dedication and compassion continue to shape lives and create a brighter future. Let's embrace National Self-Care Month, and let the ripple effects of our well-being resonate throughout our community.
With gratitude and care,
Your support makes an impact

To CASA Tim for completing training and accepting his first case. Tim’s case involves an infant that is in a loving foster home which gives the child a tremendous amount of care. As a result, Tim requested another case from the onset. After a period of time, Tim was offered another case and accepted without hesitation. Tim’s focus on helping others in many ways and with other organizations must be commended. Tim also brings invaluable experience as an adoptive parent who has supported youth.

To CASA Jennie for her care, support, and commitment to her two CASA children. The children have been moved to eight separate placements, but finally, as of last month, the siblings are together again. Jennie has provided emotional support to the children as well as the many foster parents along the way. She has used her background in special education to advocate for services for both children. Jennie is in constant contact with the current foster mom hoping to minimize the risk of another disruption. So thankful for her efforts and congratulations on her two-year anniversary with CASA Lake County.

To CASAs Christina and Jennifer for continuing to advocate for their seven CASA children through some difficult transitions. The children were recently removed from their parent and placed in foster homes. Christina and Jennifer have pivoted on the case several times, continuing their support of the biological mother, keeping in contact with the agency and attending meetings, contacting caregivers, and gathering needed items for the children. Their support for these children and commitment to this family has been unwavering.
