Renew Your Maintenance
and Receive Carlson 2020 When Released
|
Now is the time for Carlson Software users to renew and save. Applicable for those who never signed up for maintenance or have let their maintenance lapse, Carlson Software office software customers will save when updating their software and sign up for maintenance by September 1st. Additionally, those current on maintenance will receive Carlson 2020 at no additional cost when it is released later this fall.
“Updating now will turn into substantial savings – as much as 40 percent for those who are still using Carlson 2016 for example,” says Scott Griffin, director of Sales for Carlson Software. “Plus, those who update will have the benefit of the annual improvements, which are often inspired by requests from our customers, that Carlson provides with its yearly releases.

You Don’t Need a Drone to Reap the Benefits of Photogrammetry
by Steve Cummings
|
Let’s say you’ve got a 30-acre site, gently rolling, open – just the place for the new shopping center or car dealership. You’re to deliver a topo survey with 2’ contours. Twenty years ago, you would have sent a crew of three. Today, because of the improvements in surveying instruments, you only send two. Back then those three could survey an acre a day, now your crew of two can do two acres or, today’s crew is three times as productive as the old crew was.
Now there’s a “new” tool that can cut this field time drastically again. It’s called a drone.
New? To surveyors? No.

Smart Title Blocks
by Doug Aaberg
|
Carlson software contains a lot of tools to help you get your survey and/or engineering work done quicker and more efficiently. Programs like Field to Finish, Road Network and SiteNET are just a few of the examples of programs that drastically speed up the time it takes to complete a project from processing raw field work all the way to the final design. At some point along the way, however, just straight-forward drafting is necessary to get that final drawing out the door. Creating title blocks and adding all the cosmetic touches, sometimes takes longer than the survey or design process itself. The good news is, there is help for that as well. This blog will focus on creating standard title blocks.

Hawaii DOT is Liking Carlson
by Karen Cummings
|
One aspect of Carlson Civil that Daniel Sasaki, Land Surveyor III of the Hawaii DOT, happened upon and decided he really liked was the drive-through option.
“You choose a car and you can have it ‘drive’ over your profile so it shows you if there’s a hump or bump in the road,” he said. “It’s pretty neat.”
But that’s not all that Sasaki and his team, Justin Ching, Carlos Hipolito, and three other survey crews on Oahu like about Carlson.
