Milk and Egg Production:

  • A2 verification: For years, folks have asked if our milk was A2. Since we run a closed herd of all Jerseys, we felt our milk was very likely A2, but we could never state that because he hadn't had the testing done. Over the years, the cost of testing has gone down, and we finally decided to have it done so we could be sure our cows are A2. I am happy to report: it is now verified that we produce and sell A2 Milk.
  • Milk production is great right now. We have made plenty of inventory available online. Frozen cream is also available online. Fresh cream will be posted as available.
  • Our laying hens are busy. Egg production is great. It's so good, in fact, that we just posted a buy-3-get-1-free offer. The sale is available now and will be while supplies last.

North GA Candy Roaster Squash

We've had so much fun this year growing these N. GA Candy Roaster Squash. I had one a few years ago and loved it. This heirloom winter squash is native to the area and was developed by the Cherokee. The flesh is exceptionally sweet and slightly nutty, with a dense, smooth, and creamy texture. Excellent for roasting and pies.

Turkey pre-orders are now open. Reserve your bird in our pastured poultry section with a $30 deposit.

Eggs are plentiful and yummy. We have several discounts for multiples and bulk. Enjoy more eggs during this bountiful season.

On the Farm:

Culmination of Fall

As we head into Fall, many of our endeavors start to culminate. In fact, we have been so busy that I didn't even have time to snap any pictures over the last week. The turkeys are getting big. We will start taking random live weights this week so we can track our projected processed weight. We started doing this 3-4 years ago, and it helps us dial in the last few weeks to get as close as we can to our target weights.

As if we weren't busy enough in the Fall, last year we started growing strawberries. We enjoyed it, and our customers/community seemed to like it too. As a result, this year we are growing even more berries than we did last year. This is another thing I should have photographed. We have all the beds formed up, but we haven't laid the plastic yet. Hopefully that will happen this week. The 60,000 strawberry plants will arrive in early October and need to be planted within a few days of arrival.

It's a super busy time of year, but a very fun time of year. I'll try to take more pictures this week so we can bring you along on the journey.

Thanks for your continued support. At Carlton Farms we are proud to be your farmer.

Sincerely,

Chad Carlton
