Dear Forman School Community,

We are pleased to report to you on the early efforts of our Head of School Search Committee.

In February, the Board of Trustees established the Search Committee to lead the process for selecting Forman’s 10th Head of School. Today, we can report that the Committee has selected the independent educational search specialists that will aid our efforts.

The Search Committee has unanimously voted to select Carney, Sandoe & Associates (CSA) as the school’s search firm. CSA is recognized for its international and wide-ranging experience, and CSA’s Forman School team — comprising Robert D. Vitalo and Scott Nelson — brings a track record of successful searches. Among other attributes, CSA impressed the Search Committee with its proven commitment to letting each school’s unique culture set the tone for its search.

To fully understand the Forman community and culture, the Search Committee and CSA have outlined a search process that is both collaborative and open. We are working on scheduling two full days for CSA to be on campus for initial meetings with faculty, staff, and students. Through these sessions, CSA will begin to develop a profile of the qualities and abilities our school community seeks in its next leader.

While these sessions are a key component of the search, CSA and the Search Committee will engage with our community in additional ways to ensure your ideas and voices are heard. This spring, you will receive a confidential online questionnaire about priorities in selecting a new leader for Forman.

In the coming weeks, we will share more about the Committee’s work and how we will seek your partnership.

Finally, I want to again thank the members of the Search Committee, trustees Anne Buckley P’13, P’20, Michael Cook P’15, John Finnerty P’11, Elizabeth Garber Daniels ’93, and Annette Jenner-Matthews ’87, for all their hard work getting us to this point.

This is an exciting period in the school’s 93-year history and a very significant one. The Board is confident that through the Search Committee, we are committed to carrying out our charge in a manner that is diligent, thorough, and collaborative, and guided by our duty to our school and community.
