Carolina MPA Student Spotlight
Two On-Campus Students elected to Student Leadership Council
Alice Mahood and Maggie Bailey, both first-year students in the on-campus format, were recently elected to represent their cohort in the on-campus Student Leadership Council. Congratulations to you both!

Alice's favorite food is Malai Kofta and this being her favorite food led to her marriage and subsequent children. So, Yay Indian Food!

Maggie is originally from Illinois but has called North Carolina home since graduating from Elon University in 2016. She previously worked in public health and health policy at the community and state levels, but is excited to be back geeking out in school. If anyone ever wants to discuss public administration (or not public administration) over pizza -- her favorite food, let her know! She'll be with us until 2021 as she's a dual degree with City & Regional Planning.
Secret Lives of the MPA Students
Marcus Reamer , online MPA student, started his career as a marine mammal trainer and caretaker. Over five years he worked with seals, sea lions, and dolphins in Miami, Key Largo, and Baltimore. Aside from forming unique friendships with each animal, his favorite part of the job was connecting people from all walks of life to ocean science and conservation.

Since joining the MPA Program, Marcus has also been involved in the online Student Leadership Council.
***Secret Lives of the MPA Students will hopefully be a regular feature in the Digest and not so secret. Do you have a hidden talent? Volunteer with a cool organization? Accomplish something cool at work? Be sure to submit a photo with details so we can continue to learn more about one another! ***

Be sure to check out MPA Matters! Director of Admissions Cara Robinson and her GA Josh Rosenstein write about the degree, the School of Government, our Alumni, etc. It's a great recruiting tool if you have any friends interested in the MPA Program, but also a good way for our current students to stay plugged in!

UNC Global Passport Drive

UNC Global is hosting its 14th passport drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on November 7 and 8 at the FedEx Global Education Center, 301 Pittsboro Street, Room 4003. Officials from the U.S. Department of State will accept applications and answer questions. While it is recommended that you have passport photos taken prior to the drive, a photographer from the UNC One Card Office will also be on site to take passport photos. Please note that Passport Services will no longer accept passport photos in which applicants are wearing eyeglasses.
This event is open to UNC students, faculty, staff and their families. Prior passport drives have been tremendously successful—more than 2,500 people have applied for or renewed their passports during the previous drives.
Payment information, details about required materials for applications and renewals, and requirements for photos can be found at global.unc.edu/passportdrive .
This event is coordinated by the Global Relations office in UNC Global.
Mental Health in Motion is coming up on Friday, November 9th at 6pm in MBRB 2204! To wrap up Allied Health Science Week, we would love for you to join us for a series of dance stories and a presentation by a young stroke survivor in her twenties. She will be sharing her recovery journey from a holistic perspective and the dances will chronicle this experience. We would love for this event to be very inter-professional, so please invite all yours friends, family, neighbors, colleagues, etc.
