Dear Carondelet Family and Friends,
A cool breeze on a warm day. The unexpected smile of a stranger. A favorite dish prepared with great care. A warm embrace from someone we love. Each and every day, we are surrounded by opportunities to be grateful. Too often, our busy lives or our worries distract us from recognizing these tremendous gifts we are given.
But not today. As we head into this week of Thanksgiving, I pray that you find the space to calm your fears, open your heart and slow down just enough to see the world and the people around you through eyes of gratitude.
Choose to focus on the abundant goodness of our humanity revealed through acts of kindness, both large and small. May we cherish the acts that we receive as well as those we offer to others.
Let us also take a moment to remind those we love - and those we may have overlooked - how grateful we are for having them in our lives. And reflect and give thanks for all our abundant blessings.
With deep gratitude and warmest wishes from our Carondelet family to yours,
Happy Thanksgiving,

Bonnie Cotter

Alumnae Spotlight - Janine Toomey Orr '89
Carondelet Science Teacher

New feature: Alumna Spotlight

On the heels of my 30th class reunion (Let's go class of '89) it is a perfect time to reflect on my time at Carondelet as a student, teacher and parent.

My memories of Carondelet, as a student, are filled with love and laughter. I was blessed to meet a group of girls who became and still are my best friends - we had come from several different schools and somehow by sophomore year found each other.   The bonds we created were unique and were grounded in the atmosphere of love and support we found on campus. To this day these ladies are my go to people, they are each uniquely women of heart, faith and courage.

I had not planned to go into education, but after working in research and the medical field for a few years, I realized I wanted to take my love of science and enjoyment of working with teenagers and do something different. While teaching middle school, I knew if the opportunity ever came I would love to be back at Carondelet. I felt a strong pull to support young women and my memories of high school were so fond I wanted to help create those for others. I came back to Carondelet in 2010 and have been teaching in the science department ever since. I have been fortunate enough to work in student activities as well, the last few years as senior class moderator. Carondelet continues to be a place where each and every girl can discover who they are and are supported in each step along the way.

This year is particularly special as my daughter, Mckenzie, is a senior. I always knew she would attend Carondelet and her experience on campus has been everything I hoped for. She has had tremendous teachers and coaches and will graduate in May a confident young lady, ready to take on the challenges of the world. Of course, senior year is never easy on the students or parents and we are riding the waves (both up and down) of the college searching and planning experience.
Carondelet has grown in many ways, the new Athletic Center and Innovation Center are offering our students cutting edge opportunities in an ever changing world. But at its core, Carondelet is the place I grew up at in the late 80's, a place full of love and laughter forever encouraging young ladies to become women of heart, faith and courage.
Alumnae Donors July - October 2019

Alumnae are an invaluable partner in establishing and nurturing a culture of philanthropy at Carondelet. You are our most effective ambassadors - products of the Carondelet experience whose adult lives inspire the young women who walk these halls every day.

Thank you  for using your voice and spirit to encourage others to join you in support of our shared institution.
