"Connections" is a Hit!

Congratulations to the choir and dance students who participated in the "Connections" showcase last Friday. This collaborative effort between the Kinesiology and Visual & Performing Arts Departments, was a hit with the audience and featured stellar performances from both Carondelet and De La Salle students. Click here to view our Facebook album.

"It's good to have people come and see a different side of Carondelet and De La Salle," said dancer Ashley Fuller '18. "We're known so well for our athletics but it's nice for people to come and see all the artistic talent we have here, too."
Carondelet Mourns the Death of Community Leader and Philanthropist Ken Hofmann

The Carondelet community mourns the loss of Kenneth H. Hofmann, a creative visionary and generous philanthropist who knew how education - especially Catholic education - was capable of changing everything for a child.

His commitment to opening the doors of opportunity for our area's youth was evident through his lifelong support of Carondelet and De La Salle High Schools as well as the Community Youth Center (CYC) in Concord, and numerous schools and universities.

Mr. Hofmann translated his success as an entrepreneur and well-respected community leader into action and commitment to accomplish many great things for the community, touching the lives of thousands across the generations.

Most recently at Carondelet, Mr. Hofmann, through his family foundation, committed the lead gift to fund a state-of-the-art STEM Innovation Center on our campus, demonstrating a vision and entrepreneurial spirit through supporting our young women in their endeavors to make the world a better place. This gift has also created a transformative scholarship fund for Carondelet students, making high-quality Catholic education accessible to more young women.

We are proud that Mr. Hofmann's five granddaughters are Carondelet alumnae, and we are grateful for his legacy of leading with ideas and committing to making those ideas a reality.

We extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Hofmann's wife, Jean Hofmann; daughters, Lisa Hofmann Morgan and Lori Hofmann; and grandchildren: Vita Sechrest '09, Amanda Sechrest '11, Gabriella Seeno '14, Alexie Shurtz '14, Dominic Seeno (DLS '15), and Sophia Seeno '16.

Rest in peace, Mr. Hofmann. Your legacy will live on in tangible ways because of all you have done in our community - especially in cultivating the hearts, minds, and spirit of our students here on Winton Drive now and for generations to come.
Time to Register for the 2018-19 School Year

All frosh, sophomore and junior families who plan to return to Carondelet next year will need to re-enroll for school by May 1. In order to re-enroll, please follow the online instructions emailed to you by Mrs. Jessica Mix '99 on April 13.  You can also visit our  Enrollment Forms page  for supplemental information about textbooks, iPad requirements, uniforms, and more.

Please note that Carondelet continues to experience a significant increase in transfer students seeking admission to our school in all grades. Beginning on May 2, we will begin offering these families contracts to enroll their daughters in spots not filled by any current students.

Holocaust Survivor Shares Her Story of Survival

In honor of  Holocaust Remembrance Day (April 12) and to complement our students' studies about this tragic part of history, Carondelet recently hosted Holocaust survivor H ana Berger Moran, who shared her story with the entire freshman class and several other Carondelet students and faculty.

Ms. Moran, who is now in her 70s and currently resides in Orinda, was born in a concentration camp. Her mother's story was chronicled in the recent book,  Born Survivors  by Wendy Holden.

"Hearing from someone who lived this helped me to better visualize the horror of the Holocaust, so that I will never forget," said Shaila Santos '21 "I have so much respect for (Holocaust  survivors) after hearing just one of their stories."

"Despite all of the despair, Priska (Hana's mother) had a unique perspective on the Holocaust. She believed in accepting what had happened, and not dwelling on the past," said Athena Lewis '21 . "One of the most valuable lessons Hana's mother told her, was not to hate the Germans. Instead, be grateful for your life, praise God, and be true to yourself. These are words the whole world should live by."
