June 2, 2019 ~ Building Community One Positive Story at a Time
Great Job Troop 66121!

For the second year in a row, the Girl Scouts of East Bridgewater’s Junior Troop 66121 put together care packages for children in foster care on Friday May 24th.

With donations from several local businesses, the 5th graders filled 27 backpacks with blankets, toiletries, composition books/pens, locally made lip balm, flashlights, and inspirational messages   send to local children in the foster care system.

The backpacks will be donated to the non-profit organization Friends of Foster Care. These kits are distributed to foster children on the first night they enter foster care in an effort to help children adjust during this difficult time.
The girls gathered at St. John's Church in East Bridgewater on Friday and created personal cards to place in each backpack. The items used to fill backpacks were donated by Target, CVS, and Troop 66121’s cookie profits.

It was a valuable lesson for the girls about empathy, giving back, and gratefulness. One of the girls, a 5th grader at the Gordon W. Mitchell School in East Bridgewater said, “It makes me feel good inside to do this.”

Respectfully submitted, Lori Watson

Annual Beginning of Summer Dale and the Duds Concert on the Common
Thursday, June 13 from 6:30-8:30 pm

To the best of everyone’s recollection this concert has happened every year for at least the last 35 years. Knowing how much the people of East Bridgewater look forward to it as the unofficial end of the school year and the kick off to summer, the Kiwanis Club has voted to assume sponsorship of the concert since it was not planned for this year.

How can you get involved? You can help defray the costs of this unbudgeted Kiwanis event by making a donation (no matter how large or small--Every bit truly helps).

We’ll see you on the common!

East Bridgewater is Such a Special Town.

I want to thank all the scouting packs and troops. The Girl Scouts, Pack 28, Troop 29, & Troop 32. They all spent the morning (Saturday May 25) decorating the grave of every veteran at our EB cemeteries. Without these groups it would make it a very long task. Thank You.

Thanks to everyone who made Memoral Day services such a meaningful event.
Please let us know at the Patriotic Activities Committee know if we have missed a grave their are many graves and a few new names we may have missed. If we did miss it I'll make sure we get a medallion placed to hopefully not miss it again.
Thanks Everyone ~ Commander Paul Connell, Fred Bates Morse American Legion Post 91 of East Bridgewater.
