Meet Our Guest Vendor
Raw Chocolate for the Soul
Raw Chocolate for the Soul comes from the intersection of healthful eating practices, herbal medicine and culinary artistry. Steven Lambeth, an organic chef and life coach, first opened this business to produce and supply raw chocolates for the Honeysuckle Tea House. As these artisanal chocolates became increasingly popular, Raw Chocolate for the Soul began wholesaling chocolate in multiple locations within the NC Piedmont. Our product uses all organic ingredients, raw, fair trade cacao, is vegan and uses no refined sweeteners. All of our chocolate bars incorporate specialized blends of herbs to care for mind, body and soul. We are delighted to join the Carrboro Farmer's Market to share these chocolate creations with our community.
Products:
- Heart Bar - a delicate blend of hawthorn berries, rose petals, and rose hips to warm your heart.
- Love Bar - a sexy blend of codonopsis, kava and shatavari with a touch of cinnamon and cayenne to spice up your life

Gardeners' Corner
Black Eyed Peas
Southern agriculture has gone through some crisis periods in its history including the boll weevil outbreak in the cotton fields and soil nutrient depletion in the late 19th century. Fortunately, the great agronomist George Washington Carver solved both problems by developing weevil resistant strains of cotton and by showing farmers that by planting Black-Eyed Peas that they could restore soil fertility and feed their families at the same time. They are also referred to as "Field Peas' or "Cow Peas" and have the unique property of fixing Nitrogen back into the soil.

Food Waste Drop Off Program
Market visitors can bring all of their food waste from home and drop it off at the Carrboro Compost Collection during SaturdayMarket hours! The Carrboro Farmers' Market, Orange County Solid Waste Management, and a team of compost monitor volunteers set up a collection site for visitors to drop off compostable food waste year round, every Saturday. This isn't your run of the mill backyard compost! The Compost Collection goes to a commercial composting company, Brooks Contractor, who accepts a wide range of materials. All food scraps and food related paper can be composted at the market, including fruits, vegetables, meat, fat, bones, and dairy products as well as soiled napkins, paper towels, and plates. Look for the sign, the cart, and bring us your food waste! No plastic, metal, UPC produce stickers, or other non-compostable items, please.
If you are interested in getting involved with compost collection and education, please contact Muriel Williman at Muriel@orangecountync.gov.

Chapel Hill Creamery
Chapel Hill Creamery will be at Market!
We have ripe, creamy Carolina Moon for Saturday, as well as Dairyland Farmers Cheese and Pheta. The Carolina Moon is similar to a Brie, in the category called "mold ripened" cheese. Made with the traditional method, the outer white mold changes the cheese and enhances the rich flavor and softness over time. It's a good example of SLOW FOOD that is richer in flavor than many industrial type Bries which are made to ship across the ocean without getting too soft or too strong. We try to bring it to you when it is half to fully ripened, and we can pick one out for you. Set this cheese out to warm up and serve as an appetizer or with a mixed green salad for dinner.
Dairyland Farmers Cheese is a fresh, slightly tart cheese, popular with kids of all ages. It's good for snacking or melting. Our Pheta is aged in a salt brine - also a traditional method - and is saltier than the Farmers cheese. It has the rich flavor of our wonderful Jersey cows' milk and is great for salads or for topping pasta or greens.
Sausage comes from our whey fed pigs and is made with the hams for a meaty taste. Choose from sage/maple breakfast; mild country breakfast; chorizo; Hot Italian; and bratwurst. Spare ribs and ground pork are also available. Come pick up one of our recipes and taste a sample of our sausage and our cheeses.
