A Message from our President

Dear Alumni and friends of John Carroll,

In recent weeks, the Covid-19 coronavirus outbreak has had a profound impact on countries around the world—and, increasingly, here in the United States.  Under the direction of our Governor and our Bishop, we have suspended on-site instruction at our campus. Our teachers are still actively engaged in teaching our students remotely.  I am thankful that we have the ability to do this.

I know many of our alumni are working to abate the impact of the virus.  Thank you all for that. Know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers at this time. Please continue to remember us in your prayers.

It is at this exact moment that our faith is most needed.  May God bless you and John Carroll High forevermore.

Father Bob Sullivan, ‘82

Archbishop Joseph Marino '71
Archbishop Marino '71 is called to lead the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy in Rome. He is one of the only two Americans to be assigned the post.

The Scranton Journal published a very nice article about Archbishop Marino and his experiences. See below.
Archbishop Joseph Marino '75: The Call of a Lifetime

He'd gotten many calls during his career, several from the Vatican, that would change the course of his life. Still, this took him aback. Pope Francis was appointing him to the presidency of the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy in Rome, which...

" ...I enjoyed reading the CARROLLIFE. I found it not too surprising that fewer than 2% of alumni have ever given a single donation to JC. While I have donated in the past, I didn't this past year. It simply slipped my mind. In the donor section, I saw that only five (5) of my classmates donated last year.

I am offering to match up to $5,000 for all gifts generated by my class, The Class of 1966."

Prayerfully, this will remind those that simply forgot, inspire new givers, or maybe even create other class challenges. f
