September Fundraisers

September is a busy time for Carson's Village fundraising efforts and we appreciate each and very donation given to support our cause!

Carson's Village 6th Annual Golf Tournament

This year marked the 6th annual Carson's Village Golf tournament. We are so grateful for the amazing golfers and volunteers who came out this year! Each year we work to make more and more improvements. If you missed out, check out the action on our Instagram Highlights! Stay tuned for the 2024 sign-up early next year.

Community Foundation's North Texas Giving Day

North Texas Giving Day was a great success for Carson's Village and we had so much fun closing out the night at JC's Burger Bar in Coppell. Thank you to all who donated and showed up to support our fundraising efforts.

Family Testimonial

Each family that Carson's Village offers support to has a different story and requires a unique approach. One such case involved a family in Minnesota who was experiencing financial hardship and was struggling to arrange a funeral, all while the main contact was recovering from a concussion. On top of this, the passed loved one was in a different state. In addition to reaching out to a military family support organization, the family also turned to Carson's Village for help with both funeral planning and end-of-life processes. Over about an hour of conversations, our Advocate connected them with personalized resources for their family, catering to the unique needs of the main contact. The family's gratitude for feeling "all squared away" after our support was deeply moving.

This case marked the first of many interactions with our new hospital partnership, CommonSpirit. Through their referral, our Advocate was able to provide emotional support, empathy, and resources to help the family.

Advocate Intern Spotlight

Join us in welcoming Gavin O., our new Advocate Intern. Gavin is pursuing his Master in Social Work at Baylor University and interning at Carson's Village for his program. Read on to see his interview about working with us!

Describe your work at Carson's Village with one word: Insightful

What interests you in the field of social work?: I have always been drawn to the helping profession. I feel like it is my purpose in life to advocate for those who cannot at the moment.

How did you find Carson's Village?: Baylor's Placement Program

What have you learned working for Carson's Village so far?: When people traditionally think of bereavement services, some of the first thoughts that come to mind are "sad" or "heavy." However, I find it to be "fulfilling" or even "rewarding" to be of assistance to families in need. Being allowed into families' worst moments, I am so appreciative that I get to be of service in celebrating the life of their loved one.

What do you find unique about working for Carson's Village?: The Carson's Village team is so supportive, and the environment is conducive to learning. Everyone is accessible and highly knowledgeable. They are a well-oiled machine tasked with supporting families in all 50 states and other territories. I don't think you can find that anywhere else!

Resource Spotlight: Carson's Village Interactive Map

Carson's Village Interactive Map is growing! In addition to grief and legal support, we have just added Social Services. By clicking on your state you can view support options for grief, like local grief centers and counselors; for legal support, like state legal resources and local bereavement attorneys; and for social services, like General Assistance funds and 2-1-1.

Do you know a grief and bereavement specialist in the legal or counseling field who would make a good addition to our map? Have them submit a form here for counselors and here for attorneys.

Supporting Carson's Village

As a non-profit, Carson's Village appreciates all the support we can get. One of our continuing support options, Amazon Smile, has ended. So, be sure to enroll in other easy ways to support Carson's Village like social media fundraisers.
