Carver Middle School
Community Brief
Your Weekly Update from the GREAT Carver Middle School!
Friday, October 4, 2019

I am pleased to share with the community that our positive momentum from this past month has carried forward into October! The weeks have certainly been passing quickly and we now only have nine school days remaining in the first quarter of 2019-2020. Please note that Thursday, October 17th which was originally scheduled to be a student holiday will now be used as regular school day to make-up for lost instructional time due to Hurricane Dorian. Friday, October 18th will still remain a student holiday, but is a planning day for our teachers.

This Saturday, October 5th we are offering one of our "Bounce Back Saturday" tutoring sessions from 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. If you have a student at Carver and they need some extra help, please try to have them attend. We only have a few of these special Saturdays over the course of the year and they are excellent opportunities to help your child with their classwork (breakfast and a snack is provided).

Thank you for looking over our progress below and have a great weekend!

IB News
Attention Carver IB parents . . .

Every 5 years, the IB organization visits IB World Schools to evaluate their program to ensure that standards and practices are being maintained. This will result in a formal report that identifies major achievements and areas for further development. All parts of the school community are involved in this process and will involve interview panels with students and parents, as well as teachers, administration and the OCPS directors of curriculum.

If you have a student in IB classes and wish to volunteer to be on our panel of parents at 9:00 am on October 25th, please reach out to Debbie Villar at 116907@ocps.net

** IB parents are requested to complete the parent survey (click below). Thank you.

SIX SECRETS OF SUCCESS

There is no secret of success.
Success is for everyone.

Your life becomes better only
when you become better.

There is no success without sacrifice.

Success is achieved in inches,
not miles.

The greatest enemy of tomorrow's success
is today's success.

No advice on success works unless you do.
