Carver Voices - August

Greetings!

Summer may be winding down, but the momentum at Carver hasn't slowed one bit!

This month, we're celebrating the close of another impactful camp season, watching our teens take confident steps toward their college futures, and getting families ready for the new school year.

Thank you for being part of it.

Here are 3 program highlights, 2 community highlights, and 1 question to reflect on!

Month in Review

Summer Camp Wraps Up!

Six weeks of laughter, learning, and connection came to a close as our Camp Carver officially ended!

This summer, we were proud to serve 129 children in our summer camp. We served 6,233 meals throughout the summer to our Camp Carver children and youth in our Teen Center.

Preparing Teens for What's Next

Campus Tour of Columbia University

Twenty-one of our CASP (College Access Summer Program) youth have been hard at work this summer!

They focused on establishing goals for the upcoming academic year, explore college search tools, essay writing and visited 6 college campuses to get a firsthand look at college life as they prepare to submit their college applications this fall.

Community Collaborations

Backpack Distribution

Back to school just got a little easier! Thanks to the generosity of our community, we distributed 135 backpacks, fully stocked with supplies, to children in our community getting ready to head back to the classroom.

A huge thank you to our community partners who made this event possible:

  • Hammer & Nails
  • Helping Hands Rye
  • Saint Paul's Lutheran Church
  • Sisterhood Group at Redemption Community Church
  • The Sharing Shelf
  • United Way of Westchester and Putnam

A New Partnership

We have been selected to be apart of Hispanic Federation's Lucha Contra El Hambre. This program is Hispanic Federation’s hunger relief effort focused on boosting food support to families throughout New York, Florida, and Illinois.

We are excited for this partnership to help better serve our families who utilize the Carver Market.

What's On Your Mind?

August is Make-A-Will Month! A time to think about legacy and the future.

If you knew your generosity could keep supporting programs like our summer camp, Teen Center, and backpack drives for generations to come, would you consider including Carver Center in your will or estate plan?
