VIRTUAL CAP PROGRAM
Our JFK and Edison Virtual CAP students have been working with their volunteer facilitators, who hail from around the world. They are assisting their students with homework help, digital fluency, and are providing important social/emotional support.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH

In celebration of Black History Month, students of our Virtual CAP were selected to participate in Microsoft's museum walkthrough of The George Washington Carver Museum located in Dothan, Alabama! This 2-hour virtual experience, led students around the museum. After the tour, they participated in an interactive scavenger hunt. Students were engaged in Carver's history and learned more about our organization's namesake. The event was made public to all JFK and Edison's students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. 
CARVER CENTER'S RICH HISTORY IN PORT CHESTER

In recognition of #BlackHistoryMonth, we've been taking an important look back into our archives to celebrate the role Carver Center has played in the African American community in Port Chester. Picture dates from 1979 of a "graduating senior" from the Carver Day Care Center.
CARVER MARKET NUMBERS
FEEDING OUR COMMUNITY
During the month of January, the Carver Market distributed food to 1,377 households. That equates to 5,116 children, adults and seniors. We continue to work with our county partners, Caritas and Feeding Westchester to provide healthy, food choices to our families-in-need.

We also distributed 842 meals to JFK and Thomas A. Edison Elementary School students.
RYE BROOK/PORT CHESTER ROTARY CLUB SUPPORT!

The Rotary Club of Rye Brook/Port Chester donated 300 children’s masks and 800 adult masks to Carver Center. The donation was made possible by the Rossi Foundation. (From left to right, Joy and Michael Goldstein with Anne Bradner, CEO, Carver and David Brown, Carver Market Manager.)

To support our efforts to address food insecurity in Port Chester, Carver Center is going to be the benefitting charity from their annual fundraiser on Feb. 18.

2021 SPIRIT AWARD RECIPIENT
Carver Center congratulates Ellie Zimmerman, founder of Interns4Good, for receiving the 2021 Volunteer Spirit Award from Volunteer NY on behalf of her work with our Virtual CAP program. She will receive this year's 2021 Youth Leadership Award. Ellie collaborated with our Virtual CAP directors, Matt Casey and Fallen Jean-Baptiste to provide high school volunteers, who act as facilitators/mentors to our students who are participating in our Virtual After School Program.
