Casa Grande Mayor & City Council Recognized as Leaders of the Year for Economy
Casa Grande, AZ (August 30, 2021) – Casa Grande is located in the heart of the Arizona Innovation and Technology Corridor and serves as the manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, retail and commercial hub for Pinal County. According to the United States Census, there are around 3,064 businesses in the City. Its economy has seen a surge in new industrial projects including Lucid Motors, JOMI Engineering and Triumvirate Environmental over the past two years that stand to create thousands of high-quality jobs in years to come. The increase in activity has also been seen in the retail and commercial sectors. Arizona Capitol Times has just recognized City Mayor Craig McFarland, Mayor Pro Tempore Robert Huddleston and fellow Councilmembers Dick Powell, Matt Herman, Lisa Navarro Fitzgibbons, Donna McBride and Jeff Lavender as 2021 Leaders of the Year for the Casa Grande growing economy.

“I am very proud of our City Council for being recognized by Capitol Times for leadership in economic development,” said McFarland. “We share this recognition with our amazing City Staff under the leadership of City Manager Larry Rains.”

According to Capitol Times, nominations are made anonymously while awardees are chosen by a select committee. The publication explained on its website that it recognizes men, women and organizations that have contributed greatly to the growth of the state and improve the quality of life of Arizona citizens. Abbott Nutrition, Frito Lay, Wal-Mart Distributions and Monsanto Cotton Research Center are just a few industrial employers currently providing for the Casa Grande workforce.

“Economic growth is a team effort of all departments, from City Management to City Council,” said Casa Grande Economic Development Director, Richard Wilkie. “Our Mayor and Council have done a great job of not only supporting these efforts but in promoting them as well.”

Working together, City Leadership, the Mayor and Council promote Casa Grande as an ideal location for industrial, healthcare and aviation development and assist companies with identifying available sites to meet their business needs which often includes recruitment efforts. Currently in the works is a new auto mall planned for the east side of I-10 off Florence Boulevard. The Mayor and Council will be recognized at an awards night celebration on Sep. 28 at 6 p.m., as well as profiled in a special edition of Arizona Capitol Times.
