October has had special meaning for Casa de Esperanza since its founding in October, 1982. This year in particular evokes many memories as Kathy Foster, our co-founder, prepares to retire in December. Kathy and Bill Jones, who retired in 2017, started out all those years ago on a journey to help heal children and families affected by abuse and neglect by founding Casa de Esperanza de los Ni ños , the “House of Hope for Children." Since that time, approximately 6,000 children and families have found safety, love, help and hope through Casa de Esperanza. Since the very beginning, the local community has come out in force to support this mission through volunteerism, advice, advocacy and financial assistance.

We are grateful for our rich history, and look forward to new opportunities to serve our community. With a new generation of staff, volunteers and donors joining our long-time friends, it is important to pass along the history of our mission to the people leading us into the future.  There is much to look forward to: the holidays are upon us and a new year is quickly approaching. The 10th Anniversary Young Professionals Chili Cook-Off will be held on February 22nd, and we are looking forward to celebrating Kathy Foster at the 2020 Fostering Hope for Children Gala on May 3rd.

Thank you for allowing us to serve these children and their families, and for partnering with us. If you have not visited us, or are looking for ways to get more involved, please contact us!

Through these doors, HOPE begins. We are so excited to see what the NEXT 37 years brings!

Sincerely,

Shelley M. Starr
