On Mondays We Row!

"On Mondays We Row!" was hatched during a conversation about how to bring the non-traditional experience of rowing to communities of color from the Trenton and surrounding area. The answer was to get their parents, grandparents and community on board (quite literally).

On a Monday and Tuesday in mid-June, PNRA's Community Outreach Consultant Bruce Boyd invited his social media followers to come to the Caspersen Rowing Center to try out rowing in the barge. There were 6 people who showed up the first night and 12 the second night. While the numbers may have initially been small, the enthusiasm grew throughout the summer and demand for more opportunities to get on the water was huge.

"On Mondays We Row!" was born.

Every Monday, for the rest of the summer and through the beginning of October, PNRA hosted the community based On Mondays We Row. Between 10 and 25 people showing up, many of them weekly. While initially some individuals were reluctant to get in the boat, there were universal smiles and appreciation when the boat returned to the dock.

A special thank you to Bruce Boyd and Hilary Gehman for making this happen.

We are looking forward to getting back on the water on Mondays in 2024!

New Benches and Dock Repair

Thank you to Gavin Fong for including PNRA and the Caspersen Rowing Center in his Eagle Scout Project. You may have noticed the new benches at the Caspersen Rowing Center and along the path by the lake that Gavin and his crew of Boy Scouts and friends built over the summer. They also performed some much-needed repair on the coaches launch dock.

On behalf of all of us, thank you Gavin and your crew for the great addition and work.
