We will be preparing, delivering, and serving dinner for 80 people at Holy Trinity Soup Kettle in Elgin on Sunday, September 29. We need volunteers to prepare the casseroles at GLC between services, deliver to Holy Trinity, and serve the meal at Holy Trinity. We also need ingredients to be donated. Pastor Trudy's Message

Remember! Every week we hear the words Jesus spoke with his disciples at the Last Supper- it is a way to remember the importance of this meal and that Jesus didn’t exclude the ones who didn’t get it or the ones who would betray and deny Him.  The Passover meal is a remembrance, too. Remembering a time of struggle and enslavement…and how God was present in the midst of it.  It is important to remember, most of all so we can see how God’s grace reaches us in those times and how we can extend grace to others when they are struggling.  What are you being asked to remember these days and how are you being called to respond?

Good and gracious God, as we remember our struggles and mistakes, let us also remember God’s incredible love and grace…and then live out of those things! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The GLC annual congregational meeting will take place on Sunday, October 6 immediately following the 10:30AM worship service. Child care will be provided. We need a quorum of approximately 70 people to approve the budget. Please contact Kraig Mickelsen, Council President, if you have any questions.

• As we live in this troubled world, help us to hold steadfast to your promises. Help us to remember how you led Moses and his people, and how you still lead us today.
• Help us to care for the earth and all of its inhabitants as you intend, that all may flourish.
• Inspire leaders in our communities, schools, and neighborhoods to listen deeply. Grant them wisdom and insight in all decisions and interactions.
• Be with those who have lost hope and are in despair. Shine your light in the shadows, and help them to know they are deeply loved.
• As violence, political tensions, and climate disasters rage around the world, tend to those who are already pushed to the margins, and help us to care for our neighbors in need.

We surround with our prayers the family of Pastor Norm Nelson who served an interim at Geneva Lutheran and many other congregations in our area. Pastor Nelson died on September 2 at the age of 98.

These and all our prayers we lift up to you, O God. Amen.
