Dear brothers and sisters in our Lord Jesus:
Nothing is impossible to God. He is our Provider, Jehovah Jireh. He gave Peter that command to cast in a hook to catch a fish with a coin to pay a tax. Here is Matthew 17: 27: "Nevertheless, so that we should not offend them, go to the sea and cast in a hook. And take the first fish that comes up. And when you have opened its mouth, you shall find a coin. Take it, and give it to them for you and Me. (Revised Geneva Translation)
I love this verse. As unbelievable as this message had to sound to Peter, himself a fisherman, he obeyed the Lord's command.
It also follows Jesus' Word in Matthew 6:31-33: " Therefore do not worry, saying, ' What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For all these things the gentiles seek. For your Heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."
Trusting God, Peter had to act by casting in a hook to make this Miracle from God happen. Then Peter was able to testify that he was giving the money not just from himself but from the Living God.
So it is with each of us, His born-again believers, those of us who have really converted to follow Him first: Acts 3:19.
What is the first step that He is calling you to do today which will bring about a Miracle showing God's awesome sovereignty and love? Are you listening to His Instruction?
This was a message today from Susan C:
Good morning Pastor Jeff,
I prayed after reading this email last night and this morning, I would like to share with you some encouragement I found while deliberating. I use deliberate because I know the LORD expects me to act when I feel led to explore as I have this morning.
From biblehub.com, "What is the significance of the coin in the fish's mouth in Matthew?" You declared our LORD to be Jehovah Jireh, our Provider, as does Matthew. "Matthew, a former tax officer, records the miracle to reassure disciples facing material demands. Later, Jesus will promise: “Seek first the kingdom…and all these things will be added to you." The incident is a lived-out illustration of that principle, echoed in George Müller-style modern testimonies of exact sums arriving in answer to prayer." God's provision, our dependence. https://biblehub.com/q/Coin_in_fish_s_mouth_meaning.htm
Then from georgemuller.org, I read "The Life of George Muller," what an extraordinary man. In the beginning when the LORD was stoking George's desire to care for orphans and recorded in the middle of this beautifully but greatly summarized biography, I read he said, "God will provide." https://www.georgemuller.org/devotional/the-life-of-george-muller
I pray, I pray, I pray, as He has done countless times, since He provided light out of the darkness and provided Abraham a burnt offering to replace Isaac and provided His own beloved Son to redeem us from eternal damnation...He will provide for you and every ministry NDR supports. I ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ.
