Winn Hits Time Square
Winn Feline Foundation has partnered with TICA and Dr. Elsey's with an opportunity to have an ad in Time Square. We are thrilled to have this opportunity come our way to build awareness of Winn in a big way.
The ad went live March 17th and will run through the end of June. If you are headed to New York, take time to head to Time Square and see it live. We would love for anyone who is able to do this, to take a video and share your experience with us and also let us know what you think of opportunities like this for Winn. We are so excited!
Planned Giving Tips

February 2019
Income tax reforms going into effect in 2018 may have changed the amount of income taxes due on your return. The new, higher standard deductions and lower tax rates could increase refunds for many taxpayers. But reduced withholdings from paychecks, the elimination of personal exemptions, and limitations on certain itemized deductions could result in a higher tax bill this year for others. If you receive a much larger refund when you file your 2018 return that’s both good news and bad news. A large refund means, in essence, that you have made an interest free loan of your money to the government. The IRS has a tax tool to help you determine the proper withholding amounts for your paycheck:  https://www.irs.gov/paycheck-checkup . However, as you file your 2018 taxes you should review your withholding amounts. Proper withholding can increase the size of your paycheck and let you enjoy your money sooner.

March 2019
Many taxpayers have already discovered that they will owe additional money when filing their federal income tax returns this year. Changes to federal tax law reduced taxes for some individuals but eliminated or reduced common deductions for others. Changes in the withholding tables have also left some taxpayers unexpectedly owing money with their returns. If you are unable to pay your taxes in full by the tax deadline it is still important that you file your tax return on time. The failure to file penalty often much greater than the failure to pay penalty. The penalty for failure to file can be 5% of unpaid taxes per month up to 25% of the unpaid amount owed. The failure-to-pay penalty is 0.5% of your unpaid taxes for each month your outstanding taxes are unpaid. (If you don’t file your tax return in an attempt to commit tax fraud the penalties can be significantly higher, including jail time.) Unpaid taxes are also subject to interest. If you take an extension to file your return the extension is only to file, the taxes are still due. So if you find that you can’t pay your taxes in full by tax day it is still important that you still file your return, or file an extension, by April 15, 2019.

Celebrate Mr. Swanson’s Day April 9 th !

By Chris Cook, aka Mama Swanson and Susan E Gingrich
What can I say about Mr. Swanson? He was the sweetest soul I have ever met. He was my heart...my world...For some reason FIP kitties just seem to know their time here on earth will not be long.
I think that's why they try to make the most of every single moment. Mr Swanson's family came to me through a foster program. He and his two sisters were little tiny balls of fur who were for the most part, feral. I didn't even have Mr. Swanson for a year and a half before he began to show signs of illness. After many tests and a second vet opinion, I finally got the diagnosis of FIP on January 9th. It was the day I told Mr. Swanson goodbye and my world shattered. During that time I had a dream that Mr. Swanson was going away but I was to share his awesomeness with the world. It wasn't until after his death, I realized what the dream meant.

I planned and organized Mr. Swanson's Day on Facebook in 2011 three months after he passed to raise awareness of FIP and educate people of its dangers. Every year on April 9 th , we have our annual Mr. Swanson's Day. It's very easy for folks to participate. All you do is on April 9 th only, change your Facebook profile picture to the one I selected of Mr. Swanson. Then, when your friends ask about the beautiful little orange fluff ball in your profile picture, you can tell them about Mr. Swanson and tell them about the devastation and sadness caused by FIP. It's one small way I can share his awesomeness with the world and try to raise FIP awareness and donations for FIP research.

There has been a Mr. Swanson’s Day on Facebook every year since it was created with the exception of last year. In 2015, Chris Cook was involved in a near fatal car accident which totaled her less than six months old Kia. She was initially listed as a fatality and not expected to survive. Twelve days were spent in the ICU and many in the hospital. She’s had multiple surgeries including extensive work on her mouth and jaw. Chris only recently completed her PT and she still can’t work. Fortunately she had insurance to help cover most of the expense. Chris recently returned to Facebook just in time to celebrate her fur angel's special day.

Please join Chris and other FIP Fighters on Facebook April 9 th to celebrate Mr. Swanson’s life and enduring spirit. His Mama would also appreciate you making a donation of any amount to the Bria Fund for FIP Research on that special day. Please contact Chris on Facebook should you have any questions. Thank you everyone. Together, we will defeat FIP!
