Weekly Seafood Market Update: | |
- Time is running out on the Sockeye fishery, and we will probably be transitioning to Coho soon. Supplies are limited.
- The Chilean Salmon Market remains unchanged with short supply and steak prices.
- The tuna market continues to be awful, however we are hoping for a better week this week. Demand is on the rise and sourcing continues to be a challenge. We do have a couple of varieties in house right now between Bluefin, Yellowfin and Albacore.
- Chilean Sea bass pricing has significantly increased.
- Atlantic Halibut catch has been steady and should continue.
- We will start off the week with a good supply of Jumbo Black Bass.
- Swordfish remains a great option this time of year.
- The flounder market remains messy with limited quotas and high prices.
- Monkfish landings have been spotty with high prices.
- Icelandic market is limited, and high per usual for this time of year. Plants are closed until August, demand is high on the limited supply, and boats are waiting to go out with a new quota mid August.
- Pacific oysters will remain limited. There is about 30% of the normal supply for this time of year due to harvest limitations. This is caused by warm water temperatures and the seasonal vibrio issues. It’s going to be week to week for a while.
