Weekly Seafood Market Update:

  • The Salmon market, especially out of Canada has slowed due to personnel shortages. This puts limited fish on the market causing prices to go up.
  • Tuna and Sword prices were crazy last week with high hopes of improvement for this week. Unfortunately, prices are still high and product is limited, however this is expected to improve daily as we come off the full moon, and boats start to make it back to shore.
  • Flounder price and availability has been affected due to the high winds.
  • We are seeing improvements with Halibut- Thankfully the market has come down since last weekends shortages- boats are landing fish and coming in with ample supply.
  • Mahi is in good supply and prices came down a little since last week.
  • Wild Striped Bass supplies are affected by the winds- availability will remain spotty.
  • Snapper and Grouper supply remains poor, however small shipments are starting to show. Prices will remain high until supply improves.
  • Icelandic product remains limited due to challenging airfreight and winter weather.
  • Lake fish availability is limited, however we did receive some Walleye early this week. Product will remain spotty.
  • Live Lobster prices are up as landings have significantly dropped due to weather.
  • Fresh crabmeat season is closed in Maryland and there are limited landings out of North Carolina. Frozen product is limited. Other US landings are almost non existent as cooler temps limit catch. Pasteurized blue swimming crab supply has improved and prices are starting to ease.
  • Landings remain poor on Stone Crab Claws.
