Weekly Seafood Market Update: | |
FINFISH:
-
Copper River Sockeye prices ended up being lower than originally quoted last week after the fishery closed. Copper River Kings haven’t changed much. We just received a shipment last night for this weeks orders!
-
Faroe Salmon is a tale of two vastly different growers. Prices have come down, however both Faroe suppliers are at completely different prices. We are hoping to see our higher priced supplier continue with the trend.
-
Chilean Salmon prices came down, Canadian prices are pretty similar to last week and European prices are currently stable but predicted to drop next week.
-
Sword prices came down and Tuna stayed the same.
-
Wild Striped Bass - Landings are good in New York, Virginia is open but catch remains low, Rhode Island rod and reel and Maryland opened today.
-
Mahi prices are starting to increase as the domestic fish are landing less.
-
Flounder catch remains limited causing extremely high prices.
-
Icelandic fish are in high demand. Prices increased worldwide on cod. Char and ocean perch have been beautiful as well.
SHELLFISH:
-
Softshells arrived today. Please continue to communicate your softshell needs in advance.
- Tis' the PEI Mussel spawning season. A lot of ice, temperature controls and good handling practices are critical during this period of the year. Marshall Cove Mussels will not be available until July.
-
Live Lobster prices are improving - US season is underway.
FROZEN:
- Prices are starting to improve on frozen domestic shrimp.
-
Frozen cod availability is limited keeping prices extremely high.
