Catch Iowa State University Innovators at State Fair
Let's meet up at the 2019 Iowa State Fair. We'll devour our pork chops on a stick, take our turn on the giant slide, then stop by the Iowa State University exhibit in the Varied Industries Building. We need to meet the young people there; they are about to change the world.
Depending on the day, you may catch promising and thought-provoking pitches for enterprises like:
- an Uber-like moving service
- a low-cost eco-friendly soil nitrogen sensor
- mental health education
- native bee nests
- grain bin sensing technology
- a U.S. dialects app
- a way to recycle old tires into earthquake-resistant building material
When students aren't pitching, check out how programs throughout campus advance innovation and entrepreneurship. Marvel at the submissions from the "Pitch Me ISU" contest -- where undergraduate students shared world-changing ideas. If you are an alum with the bug for innovation and entrepreneurship, sign up to stay informed of opportunities to become a mentor, network and collaborate with ISU entrepreneurship programs and initiatives.
Nothing Compares to the 2019 Iowa State Fair - and that theme also applies to these young Cyclones and their out-of-the-box thinking. Nothing compares to how Iowa State University is instilling
a culture of entrepreneurship to change the world.
Iowa State is the first public university in Iowa to offer an undergraduate major in entrepreneurship and only the eighth in the nation to offer a Ph.D. specialization in entrepreneurship.
Nothing compares to how we are preparing these students to find their place in a rapidly changing economy defined by transformations -
a
t home, across the state and around the world.
So, let's meet up at the great Iowa State Fair - "Nothing Compares." See you in the Varied Industries Building Aug. 8-18. (And yes, we'll take time to revel in our Cyclone pride as we receive Cyclone tattoos, pick up the new Cyclone football poster, admire our latest sports trophies and cross our fingers as we enter daily drawings for ISU prizes.)
