It's been a busy week! Here are the highlights:
Our entrepreneurs are our nation’s job creators. They take risks, train employees and provide two-thirds of all new jobs.

As Ranking Member of the House Small Business Subcommittee on Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Workforce Development, I'm urging for policy solutions to address the skills gap, promote career and technical education opportunities and restore the small business economy so our job creators can prosper.
Brea U.S. Navy Veteran Ramon Madrid served bravely in the Korean War on the USS Saint Paul.

It was the least we could do to replace his weathered flag with one recently flown over the U.S. Capitol in his honor.
Welcome to La Habra, Pearle Vision! I’m glad we could join in celebrating your grand opening and look forward to your success in our community.
We've had 12 straight months of over 150,000 migrant encounters, and fentanyl overdoses are the leading cause of death of Americans ages 18-45.

Federal law requires the Department of Homeland Security to create a Northern border strategy, but not a Southern border strategy.

It's past time to secure our border. That's why I introduced the Comprehensive Southern Border Strategy Act.
Calling all CA-39 young artists! I encourage you to participate in the annual Congressional Art Competition open to all high school students. The winning artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, DC for one year.

Please share to help spread the word!
California continues to be a safe haven for retail theft and smash-and-grab crimes, endangering public safety and hurting our small business owners.

I joined Rep. Ken Buck this week in a letter to the Attorney General urging for a national strategy to address retail theft.
Gas prices in Orange County are now $6 per gallon. Meanwhile, Sacramento turned an effort to suspend the gas tax instead into higher taxes, and the Biden administration is looking to Iran and Venezuela to fuel our country. This makes no sense.

We need to unleash American energy.
As a mother of four and new grandmother, I mourn with parents who have lost their children due to suicide and want to do all I can to support resources that uplift our communities.

I'm proud to join Reps. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Cindy Axne and Lori Trahan to reauthorize community-based youth and young-adult suicide prevention programs that have helped uplift young people across local communities.
Heidi Gallegos served in the Los Angeles Police Department for 11 years, on the Board of Trustees for Rowland Unified School District for 12 years, and most recently, she guided the Brea Chamber through the Great Recession and the COVID-19 lockdowns. Despite unprecedented economic challenges, Heidi led the Chamber to build reserves and remain successful.

Thank you for all that you've done for our CA-39 communities throughout your career, and I wish you a joyful retirement!
Kim Jong-un continues to oppress the North Korean people through torture, imprisonment, forced labor and starvation in his quest to expand North Korea’s nuclear weapons program and gain military power. These gross human rights abuses cannot be tolerated.

As an immigrant from South Korea with family members who fled North Korea, supporting the North Korean people is personal to me. I’m proud to lead the charge to ensure the U.S. promotes human rights for the people of North Korea and continues to be a beacon for hope, freedom and democracy.
The Chinese Communist Party is watching us.

Now is the time to send a strong message that the United States will lead in the development and deployment of the technologies of the future, protect our national security and ensure taxpayer dollars do not fall in the hands of the CCP.
Don Young devoted his career to fighting for his Alaska community. He was a House institution and a great man of integrity, grit and humor who was always kind to all. I’m honored to have served with him.

I’m sending my deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. Rest in peace, my friend.
