STEM education expands opportunities for students, strengthens our economy and boosts global competitiveness. I'm excited to share that we have a CA-39 Congressional App Challenge winner!
After her relative died from a brain tumor, Troy High School Freshman Diya Sreedhar was inspired to create her app AURA, which would use AI machine learning to predict the disease prognosis of Glioblastoma patients from one's home.
Diya's app would be a force of good in communities, expand access to vital health services and help save lives. My daughter had a brain tumor as a young girl and I know we and others who have endured similar hardship would have been reassured with AURA at our hands.
I am SO impressed by the hard work, STEM skills and creativity put in by the 75 students who entered this year's Congressional App Challenge. With our talented CA-39 students leading the way, I have no doubt our nation's future is bright.
