Holiday Cheer at the AHP

Members of the Georgetown Chimes acapella group with MGUH nurses

Members of the Georgetown Chimes sang holiday carols for MGUH patients and staff. Their cheery renditions of holiday songs brought smiles, laughter, and joy to those who saw them in the hospital. We hope to welcome the Chimes back next year!

Artists-in-residence, AHP staff, and special guests at the Holiday Concert

AHP musicians-in-residence, the Pastoral Care ensemble, and instrumentalists came together in December for the annual Holiday Concert in MGUH Chapel. Those in attendance at the chapel joined in the singing. Patients, staff, and caregivers were also able to watch the concert live from patient rooms on MGUH Channel 2.

Both in-person and digital audience members were treated to beautiful songs from different denominations celebrating the spirit of the holidays!

CuraCreativity Campaign

Thank you to our generous community members who made gifts to the AHP's CuraCreativity Campaign! Due to these lovely contributions, we were able to surpass our goal of raising $10,000 this year.

Your support will allow us to continue to provide free art and movement classes to our global community, foster a creative and constructive response to illness, and bring comfort and inspiration to those in need.

Lombardi Ensemble Association

For Patients (LEAP)

Members of the Lombardi Ensemble Association for Patients

AHP Program Manager Noni Ford sat down with LEAP President Myles Cheng to discuss and introduce the Lombardi Ensemble Association for Patients (LEAP).

Can you tell me about LEAP?

The Lombardi Ensemble Association for Parents is an undergraduate student led club that collaborates with the Georgetown Lombardi Arts and Humanities Program at MGUH to provide musical performances to patients and staff at the hospital.

Members of LEAP

When was LEAP founded?

We were founded in 2015.

Who are your members?

LEAP is made up entirely of undergraduate students. We have vocalists and instrumentalists from a variety of backgrounds. There are all types of students, ranging from pre-med to economics students who participate in the club.

What are the goals of the program?

Our main goal is to give music to people in places of healing. Although most of our performances are done at MedStar Georgetown, we've also done performances for rehabilitation centers and elderly homes.

Our other goal is to provide an open, low-stress environment for those interested in music, volunteering, and community service to explore those interests.

What do LEAP members enjoy most about working with patients?

Many LEAP members enjoy hearing verbal feedback from patients, especially "thank you's", and how our members' performances are the best part of the patient's day

What do member learn while doing this work?

Our members gain familiarity with clinical settings and learn how to engage patients in an appropriate and meaningful manner.
