Standing Ovation for ISU’s Farm Bureau Summer Theatre!

The curtain has closed on an unforgettable run of “School of Rock.” With a 74-member cast, crew, and production team that included community volunteers and ISU Theatre students and faculty, this high-energy production brought audiences to their feet. With original choreography and live rock music, this musical showed the heart, talent, and collaboration that define the spirit of ISU Summer Theatre.


A special thank you to Farm Bureau Insurance Company of Idaho for sponsoring the season and supporting the arts in our community. Their renewed commitment to the summer program has helped ensure that shows like this continue to inspire and bring our community together.

Henderson Scholarship Endowment Reaches Milestone

The John D. and Marilyn B. Henderson Scholarship has reached full endowment, now providing annual awards to students in both the Department of English and the College of Science and Engineering.

Idaho State University’s Trumpet Studio made its international performance debut at the prestigious International Trumpet Guild Conference, showcasing original compositions and connecting with top musicians from around the world.

History Alumni Honored at Mormon Historical Association Conference

ISU Department of History alumni Emily Deason and Elizabeth Mawlam were recognized at the 2025 Mormon Historical Association conference held June 6–8. Deason received the “Best Article on Mormon Women’s History 2024,” and Mawlam was awarded “Best Graduate Student Paper 2024.” Congratulations!

Strengthening Mentorship in Forensic Science

Kirsten Green Mink, Ph.D., Assistant Professor in anthropology, has been awarded a 2025 Career Development Grant from the Social Science Research Council’s Sloan Scholars Mentoring Network. The grant supports mentoring and professional development activities and was awarded in recognition of her continued contributions to forensic anthropology.


Her project, titled "Forensic Anthropology Mentoring and Certification," will fund a two-week mentoring trip to Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas. There, she will train with board-certified Forensic Anthropologists at the Dallas and Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s offices.


This immersive experience will help solidify long-term mentorships with D-ABFA-certified professionals (Diplomates of the American Board of Forensic Anthropology), enhancing her path toward national certification and supporting her continued leadership in the field.

Professor Kammerer Named Inaugural Fellow for APSA Pedagogy Program

Professor Edward Kammerer, Ph.D., has been named the inaugural Inclusive Classroom Pedagogy Fellow by the American Political Science Association. Through this national fellowship, he’ll help develop inclusive teaching practices that support diverse learners, both at ISU and across the discipline.

Announcing College of Arts and Letters Seed Grants to Support Faculty Research

Four faculty members from ISU’s College of Arts and Letters have been awarded 2025–2026 internal seed grants spanning rural politics, archaeology, environmental science, and contemporary philosophy, to launch innovative research and creative projects.

Jake Knievel, a doctoral student in political science at ISU, has been named an APSA Diversity Fellow, one of the field’s highest honors for emerging scholars conducting research on identity, representation, and social change.

This support group offers a welcoming space for neurodivergent adults (18+) to connect, share experiences, and build community. Meetings focus on collaboration, understanding, and mutual support.
