AnimateAnimate Summer Camp Success
Animate means "energy" and was the perfect name for our summer camp. Eighty energetic  elementary aged Latino students received four weeks of academic camp that included instruction from certified teachers, swim instructor, and sports instructor. The students received bus transportation to and from camp, educational supplies, grade level t-shirts, and cultural fine/performing arts programs. Results from Animate show that we were able to fight summer regression for our students. The data shows little academic loss and much improvement in both math and language arts.  Animate was a life changing experience for the teachers, volunteers, and students.

STEAMNew Teen Center STEAM Camp Recap
LaAmistad developed an intensive two week Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math (STEAM) camp. Students learned how to extract DNA, took part in experiments to test radiation, developed art journals, and obtained math enrichment. Students also participated in daily sports activities, developed leadership skills, and learned how to cook. Thank you to all who supported the Teen Center STEAM Camp! Without the support of volunteer educators, scientists, and artist the camp would not have materialized. The students left camp with smiles and deeper knowledge of the STEAM fields.
