A Message To Friends Of The Edmonton Jazz Festival Society

We are delighted to have the TD Edmonton International Jazz Festival included in the upcoming CANADIAN ONLINE JAZZ FESTIVAL (COJazz) taking place from November 8-15, 2020. This unique collaboration between festivals from coast to coast will showcase local talent from each city, offering two events per night. Each festival will have its own unique approach in delivering jazz to viewers, so visit cojazz.ca to learn more about what each city will be showcasing.
For our COJazz presentation, we have chosen to highlight one of the Society's performance initiatives, the EDMONTON JAZZ COLLECTIVE (EJC). This initiative calls upon jazz instrumentalists from within our community, bringing them together to deliver unique performance projects. In the past you may have enjoyed one of our EJC ensembles as they Celebrated The Music Of Kenny Wheeler or Presented The Music Of Andrew Glover.
The roster of these ensembles is unique each time. For this project it is our pleasure to showcase the talent and original compositions of Chris Andrew (musical director and piano), PJ Perry (saxophone), Sandro Dominelli (drums), Jim Head (guitar), Bob Tildesley (trumpet), Audrey Ochoa (trombone), Rubim de Toledo (bass) and Kate Blechinger (vocals).

The Edmonton Jazz Festival Society is fortunate to have the continued support of the Winspear Centre and for this project they were able to assist us in providing a safe space for an ensemble this size to perform together in person.
"The Edmonton Jazz Collective is an important local piece of Edmonton's thriving music scene and the Winspear Centre was thrilled to be able to lend our support to this exciting project. Now more than ever, music in every form provides comfort and joy, and we proudly include the Edmonton Jazz Collective in our Winspear cohort, keeping music alive and flourishing in Edmonton and beyond." Annemarie Petrov, CEO & President of the Winspear Centre/ESO
We are excited to have this opportunity to join festivals from across the country in celebrating jazz and championing local talent. Edmonton is the only city with two jazz festivals being represented in the Canadian Online Jazz Festival so you will have the chance to catch two Edmonton-based groups as part of the mix.
The Yardbird Suite Festival of Canadian Jazz is the other Edmonton-based festival and they will be presenting a livestream event featuring MALLORY CHIPMAN & THE MYSTICS on Thursday, November 12 at 8:00 PM MST.
Make sure to visit yardbirdsuite.com for more details.
We hope you are all keeping well and have a chance to enjoy some of the great presentations in the next few weeks. Follow us on social media for updates and more on this event.
