MATCHED WITH SERENITY FOR 1 YEAR

What has been the most memorable moment in your match?  

Serenity and I went roller-skating together for the first time and seeing her gain confidence while I taught her a new trick of skating backwards is something that was very memorable for me.

Why does your match work so well?

Our match works out well for many reason! Serenity has been really brave and worked to open up to me as we have gotten to know each other better. Also her mother has always been so supportive and communicative.

How does it feel to be a Big?

This experience has been very rewarding, I have been able to see Serenity open up a bit more and show her beautiful personality. We have gotten a chance to do a lot of fun activities and enjoy our shared love of roller skating. 🛼

The end of the school year is rapidly approaching, and summer is just around the corner!

Bigs, we hope your Littles are proactively preparing for their final exams and projects. Please check in on their progress and encourage them to seek extra help from their teachers or tutors if needed to ensure their success.

We are looking forward to celebrating our high school graduates next month. Our graduation celebration will take place on June 23rd. We encourage our Littles to stay connected with their Big and the agency after graduation so we can continue celebrating their many anticipated successes in life.

As more young people graduate from our program, we want to provide even more youth with mentors who empower them to realize their full potential. One of our current challenges is the need for more volunteers to become Bigs. At this time, 88 children are waiting to be matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister.

Please encourage your friends and family to apply for consideration. Being a mentor creates a meaningful connection with a young person, and mentorship plays an important role in shaping bright futures.

Our Cabarrus Site-Based programs celebrated another successful year of learning and growing together! Matches marked the occasion with special treats, fun games, and meaningful time to say their goodbyes. While many of our Bigs and Littles will return next year, we also wished a fond farewell to those who are graduating. We’re already looking forward to reconnecting in the new school year!
