IN THE HOUSE

A Time for Love and Friendship

Valentine’s Day week brought with it lots of LOVE. From the Sweetheart Dance, a Sip Club delivery so sweet, heart shaped soft pretzels, a break room full of treats, and even hand-crafted Valentine pins for all MCC staff from our dedicated Volunteers!

February may be the month of love, but it's also a popular time to plan ahead for the warmer months that await. Residents kicked their spring planning into gear on Tuesday at the monthly Resident Council meeting. Possible trips for March 2026 were discussed and voted on. Also discussed were Resident room renovations and how Residents can stay vigilant and protect themselves from online scams.

Celebrate Communication

The month of February is packed with MCC birthdays. A handful of Residents and Speech Therapy team members all celebrate birthdays in the month of February, and all three Speech Therapists fall within six days of each other! With that said, it was no surprise when this month’s Neighborhood Speech Therapy trainings were all birthday themed.

February 16-18, MCC Speech Therapists hosted birthday parties in each neighborhood. The parties doubled as hands-on training sessions for all healthcare staff. The gracious party hosts, Janice Timlin and Grady Remond, lead interactive games that allowed for all staff participants to familiarize themselves with Resident’s preferred communication devices and methods. Thank you to all Staff members who stopped by to participate in the training celebrations. And thank you to our Speech Therapy team for spearheading the events. Staff attendance and participation was a clear sign that these trainings are relevant and beneficial to the work we do here at MCC.

Hat Day and a Movie Premiere

Residents and Staff had a blast showing off their favorite hats on Hat Day!

Hat Day wasn't the only thing to be excited about; Resident, Missy Grimaldi’s educational video premiered on Hat Day as well! Missy's previous work experience at a local daycare inspired her to write and direct this short educational film.

Missy worked with Sean Chandler of MCC Activities staff to bring the film to life. The film debuted on Wednesday, February 18 in the All-Star Room. Residents and staff gathered together to watch the film and celebrate Missy's hard work. The crowd enjoyed the production so much they watched it twice! Way to go, Missy!

The Band's Back Together Again

The All-Star Room was jam packed with HELIXX fans on Friday, February 6. We were thrilled to see such an abundance of Residents, families, and friends ready to get their groove on with MCC's favorite live band! Thank you to the band and everyone who came out to the show for an awesome afternoon.

In other rocking news, Resident, Kate Manners, received the surprise of a lifetime this month from her favorite recording artist, Ann Wilson! Through a family connection, MCC Activities staff member, Will Weldon, was able to finagle a special delivery of signed merchandise to Kate from Ann. Shout out to Ann, her team, and Will for making this dream come true for Kate.

Paint & Sip at MCC

The Mary Campbell Center welcomed Painting with a Twist instructors to The Center for the first time ever on Tuesday, February 24, and we cannot wait to have them back again.

Residents worked closely with MCC staff and volunteers to create their own unique versions of the tropical sunset provided to the group as inspiration. Occupational Therapists provided assistance to Residents and volunteers using adaptive equipment. And thanks to our dining team, as Residents painted, they also sipped on refreshing orange crush and red sangria mocktails.

Thank you to Tash in Activities for taking the lead on this highly anticipated event and to all staff and volunteers who helped make it a success.

February 2026 Skills Fair

The MCC healthcare team hosted their second Skills Fair of 2026 this month. The fair ran from Tuesday, February 24 through Thursday, February 26. The topics covered included mandatory reporting requirements, seat cushion pommels, Ankle Foot Orthotics (AFOS), orthotic cushions, and skin assessment knowledge + skills.

ALL Mary Campbell Center staff are mandatory reporters.
