Girls Beach Volleyball wins
3rd consecutive
State Championship!


The Girls Beach Volleyball Team had a great weekend! They won their 3rd Consecutive State Championship, beating Laguna Beach High School in the State Finals. 

The Finals match was also their 100th Consecutive Match Victory!

Mira Costa Boys Volleyball is the CIF Division 1 Runner-up; Headed to State Semi-Finals!

Mira Costa, currently ranked #3 in the nation, had a great run through the CIF Championships. With only 16 teams qualifying into the Division 1 playoffs, the competition was tough from the first match. Costa defeated a strong Los Alamitos team in 3 straight sets. In the quarter-finals, Costa traveled to Huntington Beach High School, defeating this volleyball powerhouse again in three straight sets. Read More

Boys Tennis looks ahead to Regionals after tough loss to University in CIF Semifinals!

Mira Costa’s CIF playoff run came to an end at University High School, the Mustangs losing 6-11 (one match unplayed because of time restraints) to the University Trojans. In singles, Tim Dzhurinskiy (MC) won two sets 6-1, and 6-0; Matthew Poh won one set 7-6(2); and Kyle Sillman (MC) won one set 7-5. In doubles, Ethan Han/Max Weulfing (MC) won two sets 6-4 and 6-0. The Mustangs will next play in the State Regionals on Friday, May 17, at The Claremont Club, against an opponent to be determined. Costa Softball finishes season in
CIF quarterfinals!

Mira Costa Softball had an amazing CIF playoff run this season, making it to the quarterfinals in Division 3 for the first time since 2012.
The team finishes the season with a record of 18-14 and with a strong core of players that will be back even stronger in 2020!
A banquet is planned for May 28 to recognize the many individual and team achievements for this season.

2018 alumna Katie Gould attends Washington University in St. Louis and was named to the All-UAA First Team.

2018 grad Serena Ponciano attends NYU was named to the All-UAA Second Team

Ulufa “Fa” Leilua attends Mississippi State and was named to the First-Team All-SEC

2015 grad Brittany Werre will be playing for the Washington Huskies as they start the NCAA D1 Softball Tournament this weekend.

competes in CIF!

Costa had two amazing days at CIF in Riverside this year! The team was rested and able to race very well. They had many second swims at finals in individual events as well as relays. Girls placed 12th out of the 44 teams that were there and the boys placed 3rd out of 46 teams! A very impressive feat on both sides!

Jacob Haim places 10th in State Championships!

Jacob Haim, Mira Costa diver, placed 6th in the CIF competition across all four divisions qualifying for the State Championship in Clovis.
He competed on Saturday, May 11 in the CIF State Championship making it to the final round and placed 10th overall in the state. Congratulations Jacob!

Space is available in all classes.

Please register for the grade your student will be entering in the fall.
 
2019 Summer School dates are:

Session 1: Monday, June 17 - Tuesday, July 2
(note classes meet Mon. – Fri. the first 2 weeks)
Session 2: Monday, July 8 - Thursday, July 25 (Mon. – Thurs.)

Academic courses meet from 8 am to 1:30 pm.

MBX Flex courses are available to students needing a more flexible summer school schedule. Please check our website for more information and available courses by clicking here . Classes can begin as early as June 17 and must be completed by August 9.

Boys Baseball stretches
post-season to
CIF Quarter Finals!

The Mira Costa Varsity Baseball Team stretched its post-season CIF play all the way to the quarter finals this year!
Thank you to all of the fans that supported the Division 1 Mustang Program in 2019. And congratulations to the graduating seniors and all players, coaches, parents and administrators for their achievements this year as one of California’s elite high school baseball programs.

Band updates for May!

 Jazz Bands hit high notes at Festival. The MCHS Jazz Bands and Combos performed for adjudicators at the Riverside Jazz Festival, held last Friday.
They won first place in two divisions, as well as for sight-reading. Well done, Jazz musicians!
Jazz 1 closes out El Camino Jazz Festival
The talented Jazz 1 band was invited to perform as the closing act at the El Camino Jazz Festival, which was a huge honor this past weekend. The group wowed the crowd in the Marsee Auditorium.

May highlights for Choir!

On April 12th, Vocal Ensemble participated in the Citrus Hill SCVA Festival with a very challenging program of Hakenberger’s “Exultate Justi,” C. V. Stanford’s “Justorum Animae” and Mozart’s “Dies Irae”’from the Requiem. Not only did they receive a Superior rating, but also a perfect score. Surf Team competes in
All-Star Longboard and Shortboard!

Mira Costa Surf Team concluded All-Star Longboard heats. The team was allowed to enter 5 Mens LB and 5 Womens LB into All Stars and had an amazing finish with Coco Vergnolle taking the Mens LB win and Carly Komick taking the Womens LB win! Along with Carly winning Womens LB, Emily Eddins placed 4th Kyra Williams placed 3rd and Kenna Hawkes took 2nd, Congratulations to all competitors and the finalists! Drama May Updates!

 Drama 1 & 2 Showcase
Mark your calendars for Mira Costa Drama/Tech’s first-ever Drama 1 and 2 Showcase, an exciting selection of monologues and scenes (including original material) performed by students looking to advance in the program. Monday, May 20 at 7 PM in the Small Theatre. Admission is free.
Senior Scenes
On Wed., May 29 at 7 pm, Mira Costa’s
12th grade drama/tech students will present student-produced, student-directed Senior Scenes, featuring their MCHS drama classmates. It’s sure to be a great evening of performances that you won't want to miss! Senior Scenes will be held in the Small Theatre. Tickets $5 at the door.

2019 Jeff Goodrich Parents’ Soccer Classic is an enormous success!

 The 2019 Jeff Goodrich Parents’ Soccer Classic was an enormous success! There were 12 teams who played in 4 three team brackets (including a recreational B team bracket) with over 120 players total. Many sponsors were out there including the event’s Marquee Sponsor, Sand & Surf Soccer Club, who has partnered with the tournament for the past 2 years. Additionally, tournament t-shirts were produced by Legends, lunch was served by Villegas Tacos and water was donated by OXIGEN. Read More
GRAD Nite

Mira Costa High School’s G.R.A.D. Nite is an all-night party of thoroughly extravagant proportions thrown each June exclusively for the graduating class. The party is substance-free and provides a safe environment for the current graduating class to celebrate together one last time.  Attendees are bused to a secret, private venue where they may participate in games, music, dancing, and many other surprise activities.
