Get Ready for edHEALTH's Winter Wellness Challenge

By popular demand, edHEALTH will once again host a four-week winter wellness challenge. It takes place from Monday, February 9 to Friday, March 6, 2026.

Aligned with our 2026 goal of engaging and educating your faculty and staff, this year’s challenge focuses on helping participants better understand their own health and wellbeing.

edHEALTH's wellness challenges are easy ways to encourage your faculty and staff to think a little more about wellness and take action. We invite all member-owner schools to participate!

What's the actual challenge? Participants take a secure, online personal health and wellbeing assessment during the four weeks of the challenge. Once completed, they receive a personalized health report that includes tips to help them find their healthy place and path forward. They automatically receive an entry into a weekly raffle to win an e-gift card.

Member-owner schools: We'll talk more about our Winter Wellness Challenge at our January 29 meeting. You will also receive a program flyer from us to distribute, which also will be posted in the edHEALTH portal.

Stay tuned for more challenge information!

It's a New Year: Are You Offering New or Different Health Plan Designs?

If you're like many institutions across the country, you had to modify your 2026 health benefits. Now that the new plans are in effect, be sure to remind faculty and staff of what's changed, like cost-sharing, deductibles, and GLP-1 coverage.

Highlight what's different, and why. Pull from all the content you created during the fall.

In the words of Dave Chase, co-creator of Health Rosetta and author of CEO's Guide to Restoring the American Dream: How to Deliver World Class Healthcare to Your Employees at Half the Cost, says: “The need for frequent, clear communication with employees and dependents can't be overemphasized.”

Meet our New Chief Strategy & Membership Officer, Jeannine Chiappini

This month, we’re thrilled to welcome Jeannine Chiappini as our new Chief Strategy & Membership Officer at edRISK, which includes edHEALTH, edLIABILITY, and edPROPERTY. Jeannine brings over 25 years of experience in benefits and consulting, with expertise in captives. Before joining edRISK, she served on the executive leadership team of a prominent benefits and captive consulting firm.

You can read more about Jeannine's credentials in last month's press release or on her LinkedIn profile. Today, we share her responses to a few questions that will help you get to know her a little better, including what brought Jeannine to our educational collaborative.

1) What brought you to edRISK?

I was particularly drawn to the member-owned model and the genuine commitment to partnership. This felt like an organization where experience, curiosity, and strategic thinking could truly make an impact.

2) What do you bring to edRISK?

I bring a relationship-driven approach. I care deeply about listening to members, understanding their challenges, and translating strategy into practical, actionable solutions. My goal is to help edRISK strengthen engagement, retention, and long-term value for every member.

3) What are you most excited about in this new role?

I’m most excited about building meaningful connections with the edRISK membership and helping shape the organization’s future growth. This role offers a unique opportunity to align strategy with service—to ensure members feel supported, heard, and confident in the value edRISK delivers.

I’m also excited to collaborate internally, bringing ideas to the table that enhance the member experience and position edRISK as a trusted, forward-thinking partner in higher education risk management.

4) Any personal or professional goals as you start this new year and role?

Professionally, my goal is to spend this first year listening, learning, and building trust—both with members and the edRISK team. I want to ensure we’re meeting institutions where they are while also helping them prepare for what’s ahead.

Personally, I’m committed to leading with intention—staying curious, being present, and creating space for thoughtful, collaborative work that benefits the broader edRISK community.

5) What’s a favorite quote or words shared with you?

One quote that has always stayed with me is:

“Leaders who don’t have the courage to have uncomfortable, authentic conversations don’t create cultures of trust.” Brene Brown

That sentiment guides how I lead, how I collaborate, and how I hope to show up every day. My word of the year is intentional.

In support of Heart Health Month, edHEALTH recommends that institutions promote heart-healthy awareness, including maintaining a healthy lifestyle through nutrition, strength-building, and exercise, as well as controlling conditions such as high cholesterol and blood pressure.

You can find resources, like the one shown here, through the American Heart Association's website. You can use these flyers in newsletters or on your intranet sites and print them to post in common areas.
