Clothes To Kids Lifts Referral Requirement

Big news! Shoppers will no longer need a referral or proof of automatic qualification to shop at Clothes To Kids of Denver.

The requirement to provide a referral or proof of qualification was temporarily suspended last year in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. This change has been so popular with our supporters and those we serve that we have decided to make the suspension indefinite.
"We are looking to elevate the experience of our shoppers and add to the dignity of the Clothes To Kids shopping experience," said Valerie Lunka, executive director of Clothes To Kids. "It is so difficult for many of the families we serve to ask for help. We hope that suspending the need for a referral makes things easier on both the families we serve and our community partners who share our information with students."

Clothes To Kids Featured In YourHub
Just one year ago, Clothes To Kids of Denver launched Curbside Service, providing safe, contactless delivery to families in need while still allowing students to choose their own clothing and be just as selective as if they were shopping in person. The new program has proved so popular over the past year that we are continuing to offer it, despite the reopening of our boutique for in-store shopping.

Sharing the Love

Our friends at Arc Thrift Stores very kindly donated several hundred new masks for our shoppers. When our executive director Valerie Lunka picked them up, she grabbed a picture with their President and CEO Lloyd Lewis. It's a beautiful partnership. Thank you, Arc!

Our shoppers are loving the 180 brand new sports bras shared with us by our friends at I Support the Girls Denver. This incredible nonprofit provides underwear and feminine hygiene products to women in need and has already donated thousands of bras to our shoppers!

The Vans stores in both Southwest Plaza and Cherry Creek Shopping Center recently donated some amazing items. Our happy shoppers have taken home new backpacks, shoes and clothing. Everything was greatly appreciated by our shoppers, and almost every item went home with someone the same day it arrived!

At their first quarter meeting, 100+ Men Who Care Denver chose Clothes To Kids as the recipient of a $6,600 donation. This generous group raises money for local Colorado charitable causes. Each member has an opportunity to raise thousands of dollars for his charity each quarter. Wow!

Our friends at HENSEL PHELPS just made a unique clothing donation. For a new baggage system they are designing, they loaded up 3,000 pieces of luggage with clothes to create a real world test. Once the test was complete, their entire team sorted the contents of the bags and donated everything to our shop. Very cool!

Can you spot our super bargain shopper Mary Grice behind her last haul of purchases? When we are low on items, especially boys pants and shorts, all we have to do is call Mary and she comes to the rescue!

Betsy and some fellow mom/daughter teams from the Rocky Mountain Chapter of National Charity League, Inc. raised $900 dollars, then went to Old Navy on a shopping spree. They bought a wonderful variety of new clothing and shoes that our shoppers really loved.

Over the past two months, we've had the pleasure of hosting four fantastic volunteer groups from the student government of Heritage High School. We appreciate all of your hard work unloading, sorting, hanging and restocking!

Kent Denver School just wrapped up their annual clothing drive. They collected more than 170 bags of awesome clothing for our shoppers! Their continued support means so much to our families. Kudos to the many youth volunteers who were on site to help us unload all the bags!
