Simple Ways to Support Clothes To Kids of Denver Before the Holidays!

Your year-end contribution goes further when you make your Colorado Gives Day gift early! Any donation made today through December 10 increases our share of the $1 Million+ Incentive Fund. The more you donate, the more we will receive from this special “bonus” fund! Plus, if you set up a new monthly donation, the Colorado Gives Foundation will match your first monthly donation up to $100.
After a record-breaking fall shopping season (nearly 4,000 students have shopped with us in the past three months alone!), we are in dire need of clean and ready-to-wear clothing and shoes. We welcome donations Tuesdays - Saturdays between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, or by appointment. Check our updated Clothing & Shoe Donation page for a list of the items we accept and our greatest needs.

We are currently the fortunate recipient of Altar'd State’s Mission Monday program. Every Monday, 10% of company sales go directly to a local nonprofit. In celebration of their theme this season (Ready, Set, School) all of Altar'd State's locations in Park Meadows (Arula, Tullabee and Revival) have chosen CTKD as their beneficiary. Please be sure to stop by to shop and thank them for their support!

We had a blast at the Colorado 1000 Networking Madness - The Big Giveaway. Generous Colorado 1000 members and supporters donated an incredible $50,101.00 to Clothes To Kids Denver! We feel so honored to receive this gift. It will certainly go a long way in helping further our mission and providing students with the clothing they need to feel comfortable, confident and prepared to thrive. Celebrating Stellar Staffers
We are thrilled to introduce our new program associate, Berenice Galvan. She jumps from scheduling appointments, to sorting donations, to answering phones, to assisting families and back around again with ease! Even during the busiest of days, she is always smiling and helps our shoppers and their families feel so welcome and comfortable. In her free time, she loves being with her four wonderful kids, reading and being outside.
| |
We also want to wish our executive director Kathleen Phillips a happy work anniversary. A year ago, she hit the ground running and has never slowed down! With Kathleen at the helm, we have had our busiest year yet, plus a fresh new look, a new shopper database, a new video and lots of new behind-the-scenes processes that have greatly increased our community impact. Plus, she is always happy to roll up her sleeves when there is a big donation to receive.
| Cheers to many more years of impactful work together with these incredible staff members. We are so lucky to have them both on our team! | |
A huge thank you to our sweet friend Charlene Andrew for her 8th annual donation of crocheted hats. We counted 200 this year...her largest donation ever! Charlene spends an entire year making these for our fall and winter shoppers, who are always so excited to have something so beautiful and thoughtfully handmade to wear.

Our board treasurer Tyler Samples was flying up to Seattle on United and recognized Captain Ashley Ogden from the Blue Jean Bash. United was a Gold Sponsor of this year’s Bash and also donated two fight simulator experiences for our live auction. Capt. Odgen has been an enthusiastic supporter since the very first time she visited our store and kindly invited Tyler to hop up front to chat before take-off.

The weather in Denver has been gorgeous, but we are in the thick of preparing to outfit our winter shoppers. Thank you to this wonderful volunteer group from BOK Financial (and our illustrious co-founder Joyce Meyers!) for helping us sort and hang the mountain of coats from Ridwell. They also got lots of winter boots tagged and ready for our racks.
| |
Thank you to our friends from Ridwell for sharing a portion of their "Winter Warmth" collection from their subscribers. Look at all those bags of coats, hats, scarves and gloves! These items are a constant need for us this time of year (hint, hint!), and our shoppers will be thrilled to have so many nice things to choose from.
| |
Our terrific volunteer Jen Shermer (pictured here) knitted a dozen of these warm winter hats for our shoppers. We also received a collection of hats and scarves that were knitted by our friend Shelly, who has been making items for our shoppers for more than five years. Thank you to Jen and Shelly for these beautiful, thoughtful and lovingly handmade gifts!

Kai Sokso has been volunteering since 2012. His specialty is heavy lifting and we can always count on him for help when a big shipment arrives. He has also made MANY trips to and from storage during our seasonal switches. Most recently, he delivered multiple pallets of donations from one of our apparel partners and moved a mountain of purchased items from a fellow volunteer’s home to the shop. We don’t know what we would do without you, Kai!
| |
We were thrilled to have Ashley Kowalski and Jenna Baca come to our shop to present a $2,000 Empowerment Award from Sunflower Bank! Award nominees were chosen by employees and other community members of the bank. We are sending special thanks to the anonymous supporter who took the time to nominate us. We appreciate you!
