February 10th Council Meeting Highlights

Results of 2024 Drinking Water Quality Management System Audits

Council received internal and external Audit Summaries of the Township's Drinking Water Quality Management System (DWQMS). The DWQMS is a set of requirements for managing drinking water systems in Ontario and emphasizes a proactive and preventative approach to managing risks. The 2024 Audit of South Glengarry's system found that the Township is in compliance with the requirements of the standards.

Funding Application - Smithfield Park Pathway


Council provided staff with direction to apply for funding through the Ontario Trillium Foundation to fund an accessible multi-use path at Smithfield Park in Lancaster. The proposed pathway would link visitors to the park's amenities including the pavilion and playground areas, while also offering an accessible option for patrons to walk, run, and bike.

Summerstown Development Zoning Amendment Approved


Council approved a Zoning Amendment for the proposed development in Summerstown along the Highway 401 corridor. The zoning amendment will permit various new uses on the subject property, such as a convenience store, motor vehicle gas bar, hotel/motel, among others. There was extensive public consultation prior to the approval of this zoning amendment, including an independent assessment of aviation factors that may impact the operations of the Cornwall Regional Airport.
