Katie Hall Public Service Awards Luncheon

Last week, the Northwest Indiana community gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of Lake County Prosecutor Bernard Carter at the Katie Hall Public Service Awards Luncheon. The annual affair recognizes individuals who have dedicated their lives to public service. Carter has served in the role of prosecutor since 1993.

Attorneys Michael and Shelice Tolbert were in attendance to show their support.

"Prosecutor Carter is the perfect example of what public service looks like," said Atty. Michael E. Tolbert. "He loves the community he serves and does it with wisdom and integrity."

Along with Prosecutor Carter, Urban League of NWI President and CEO Dr. Vanessa Allen McCloud, mentors to the Tolberts, was also honored. Other notable honorees included Steve Mays, President of the NAACP Gary Branch, and Bruce Curry, Education Chair for the NAACP Gary Branch (all pictured below).

Atty. Shelice R. Tolbert Recognized by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. During Women's History Month

Women's History Month is celebrated during March, and the ladies of the Gary Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. honored a host of its members via a social media campaign titled "Sisterhood Month: Sorors in Business."

Atty. Shelice R. Tolbert was featured as a law partner and entrepreneur.

"I was truly humbled by this designation," said Tolbert. "It always feels good to be celebrated by your own."

Faith CDC Recognizes Partners, Board Members During "Food is Medicine" Appreciation Dinner

Recently, community organization Faith CDC hosted an Appreciation Dinner honoring the partners of their highly successful "Food is Medicine" program.

The initiative provides healthy foods and resources to program participants who are looking to improve their blood pressure, cholesterol levels and other statistics while embracing a healthier lifestyle.

Tolbert & Tolbert Associate Attorney Wins First Trial

On April 9, 2025, Tolbert & Tolbert associate attorney Sam Brown, won his first trial. He successfully represented the City of East Chicago in a breach of contract matter captioned, City of East Chicago v. David Zamora. Brown was diligent, and his preparation paid off! Congratulations, Sam!
