Atty. Candace Williams Completes Term as President

Candace Williams, Atty. at Tolbert & Tolbert, recently completed a two-year term as President of the James C. Kimbrough Bar Association. She is pictured above delivering remarks after being honored by members, colleagues and supporters. The Kimbrough Bar Association is a professional, legal organization comprised of lawyers of color in Northwest Indiana.

Tolberts Attend IUN Honorary Degree Ceremony for

Indiana Supreme Court Justice Robert Rucker

Last week, Retired Indiana Supreme Court Justice Robert Rucker was awarded an honorary degree by Indiana University Northwest. Attorneys Michael and Shelice Tolbert attended the ceremony to offer well wishes.

"Justice Rucker has been instrumental in our professional lives and those of other lawyers of color," said Atty. Michael E. Tolbert. "This honor is well-deserved, and we were blessed to witness this historic moment."

Henry E. Bennett Foundation

Tolbert & Tolbert is supporting the mission of the Henry E. Bennett Foundation with a generous donation of $1,000. Established in 2018, The Henry E. A recent American Bar Association study shows there are about 1.3 million lawyers in the United States. Many do not offer services in undeserved areas. In Northwest Indiana, just about 1% of registered law firms call Gary, Indiana home leaving a significant population without access to quality legal services.
