The National Black Lawyers was created to celebrate legal excellence by promoting attorneys as subject-matter experts, developing a strong national network of top African American attorneys, and facilitating the exchange of timely information to enable members to maintain their status as leaders. Those who are a part of the top 100 are designated as highly successful and influential lawyers with reputations for providing excellent legal representation in their respective practice areas.

Atty. Shelice R. Tolbert in First Class of

Indiana Lawyer Diversity in Law Honorees

Congratulations are in order for Atty. Shelice R. Tolbert who recently received word of a prestigious designation. Tolbert is a member of the inaugural class of Diversity in Law honorees, an honor which is bestowed by Indiana Lawyer. This award recognizes attorneys and judges who actively promote different forms of diversity within the legal profession. Honorees will be recognized at an awards breakfast on October 5th and featured in the October 11th issue of the Indianapolis Business Journal.

Attorney Michael E. Tolbert talks Hip Hop

from a Legal Perspective

Recently, Attorney Michael E. Tolbert served as a speaker at the Inaugural "Share Your Vision Conference" presented by Ivan Cord Consulting. Tolbert, a self-professed "Hip Hop Head," was especially pleased that the conference fell on the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop. His presentation was titled, "The Business of Hip Hop: What We Can Learn About Forming a Business From Rap Music."

Many do not offer services in undeserved areas. In Northwest Indiana, just about 1% of registered law firms call Gary, Indiana home leaving a significant population without access to quality legal services.
