As a mom, my heart breaks for any child who loses a parent. While we can never repay the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our freedoms, we should do all we can to support their loved ones.

I'm proud to join Rep. Dean Phillips in a bipartisan effort to designate August 1, 2021, as Gold Star Children’s Day. This resolution sends the vital message that Congress and the American people care.

I believe that we must spend taxpayer dollars effectively and responsibly. Unfortunately, the Democrat-led appropriations bills before the House this week are not serious attempts to legislate, with no chance of passing the Senate and becoming law. This minibus is filled with partisan priorities, including destroying decades of bipartisan consensus by forcing taxpayer funding of abortion and increasing federal spending by more than 20 percent at a time when our country is running historic deficits.

As the appropriations process continues, I will continue to do all I can to fight for important projects from California’s 39th District and advocate for responsible bipartisan appropriations bills that can ultimately pass the Senate and can be signed into law by the President.

Securing continued U.S. energy independence requires us to unleash American innovation and public-private collaboration to address energy and environmental challenges.

I was proud to introduce the bipartisan Partnerships for Energy Security and Innovation Act with my colleagues in the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology to boost ongoing efforts at the Department of Energy.

As you may know, millions of Uyghurs and other ethnic minority groups have been subject to imprisonment, torture, and brainwashing in so-called ‘political reeducation’ centers by CCP officials. We must stand against these horrific human rights abuses. 

I’m proud to lead the Uyghur Policy Act of 2021 with Chairman Bera to create concrete steps for the U.S. to support the fundamental human rights of Uyghurs and other groups subject to the CCP’s inhumane treatment. I will continue to firmly push back against the PRC’s repeated disinformation, coercion and abuse and support human rights and freedom around the world.

History clearly proves that socialism oppresses livelihoods. As the Cuban people cry for freedom from their brutal regime, we are reminded of the dangers of socialism and the need to stand with the Cuban people. I’m proud to join Rep. María Elvira Salazar on a resolution to denounce socialism and stand with the Cuban people in their fight for freedom.

Rising cyberattacks are compromising business owners’ security and ability to keep their employees on payroll, undermining virtual learning, and discouraging future entrepreneurs from establishing a small business and creating jobs.

We must ensure that small business owners can effectively utilize the Small Business Administration’s resources. I’m grateful to my House Small Business Committee colleagues for prioritizing cybersecurity and passing the SBA Cyber Awareness Act. I'm proud to support small businesses and workers.

As the U.S. withdraws and the Taliban continues to consolidate power, support for Afghan women and girls is more important than ever. I thank my Foreign Affairs Committee colleagues for passing Rep. Kathy Manning and my effort to reaffirm our support.

Unfortunately, NASA currently has $2.66 billion in maintenance backlog. I'm working on the Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee to ensure NASA has the resources they need to continue to innovate.
