A 'Lenten Fish Fry' hosted by the Knights of Columbus will be held from 5-7 p.m. at the Church of the Sacred Heart Parish Hall on Friday, March 11.

The Board of Supervisors will hold a Budget Worksession at 6 p.m. Monday, March 14 in the Community Room of the Human Services Building.

The Prince George School Board will hold its next meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 14 in the Board Room of the Administration Building.

Newly-appointed Police Chief Keith Early will be sworn in to his position at 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 14 in the Circuit Court Room.

Prince George County Schools will sponsor its 'Spring Fling' from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday, March 12 at Moore Middle School.

The Fire & EMS Department will host a 'Career Fair' from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12 at Moore Middle School.

The 14th Annual Good Gardening Symposium will be held from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday, March 12 at The Barn Theater at Richard Bland College.

The Prince George Volunteer Fire Department will host a Spaghetti Dinner & Raffle from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, March 12 at the Company 1 station.

The Carson Volunteer Fire Department will host an Oyster Roast from 3-6 p.m. Saturday, March 12 at the Rives Ruritan Hall.

The Fort Lee Playhouse will present 'Jungle Book.' The play times will be Friday, March 11 and Saturday, March 12 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, March 13 at 2 p.m.

Prince George Promise will hold its First 'Outstanding Youth Awards' Ceremony at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 15 at the Prince George High School Auditorium.

The Appomattox River Regional Water & South Central Regional Wastewater authorities will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 17 at the Petersburg offices.

The Prince George Fire & EMS Advisory Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 17 in the Board Room of the Administration Building.

The Prince George Promise Board of Directors will meet at 2 p.m. Friday, March 18 at the Prince George Library.
BOS Advertises Four-Cent Increase on Real Estate Tax Rate
The Board of Supervisors at its March 8 meeting voted 4-1 to advertise a real estate tax rate at 0.86 per $100 assessed value, a four-cent increase. Details.

  • Prince George County Government will launch its new website on March 21.

  • Former Prince George High School girls' basketball standout Ariel Stephenson was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Academic Team with a GPA of 3.47. 

  • Sidewalk installation is nearly complete for Phase I improvements at Exit 45. Light standards are next to be completed.

  • Volunteers are needed for the upcoming Pork Butt Festival in September. Details.

  • The search continues to fill Director of General Services position.  Interviews will begin in the next couple weeks.

  • SOFTBALL CAMP: The Prince George Parks and Recreation Department will be taking registration for a Youth Softball Camp, for players 9 - 12 years old, through March 25. The Softball Camp will be held Wednesday, March 30 from 1:00 pm-5:00pm at JEJ Moore Athletic Fields. The camp cost is $25.00 per person. Richard Bland College coaching staff and Richard Bland College players will be conducting the camp. Players will learn the fundamentals of hitting, throwing, and fielding.   • BASEBALL CAMP: The Prince George Parks and Recreation Department will be taking registration for a Youth Baseball Camp, for players 9 - 12 years old, through March 25. The Baseball Camp will be held Monday, March 28, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at JEJ Moore Athletic Fields. The camp cost is $25.00 per person. Donnie Brittingham, the Prince George Middle School baseball coach, coaching staff members, and Prince George High School baseball players will be conducting the camp.   • Registration for Summer 4-H Camp continues through the Office of Cooperative Extension.  Sign up information can be obtained by contacting Director Hermon Maclin at hmaclin@vt.edu.

  • Comments are being accepted to the Corps of Engineers on an application to develop 40-acre undeveloped property adjacent to and directly east of 5155 Chudoba Parkway.  Comments should be made in writing, addressed to the Norfolk District, Corps of Engineers (ATTN: CENAO-WR-R), 803 Front Street, Norfolk, Virginia, 23510-1096, and should be received by the close of business on March 16.

  • Receptions to meet new Police Chief Keith Early will be held Wednesday, March 23 at the Prince George Library; April 13 at the Disputanta Community Center; and April 20 at the Burrowsville Community Center.  Starting time each event is 7 p.m.
