Greetings!
I hope this email finds you catching the wind of creativity and letting it carry you. It's not always in the direction that you thought you'd be going, right? One thing aging is teaching me is that I can plan all I want (and heaven knows I'm a great planner!), but the key to happiness and living a fulfilled life is to know when to let go and surrender into what is and what might be.
At the ripe old age of 70, Life is sweeping me up and carrying me along. I am holding on and enjoying the ride, albeit a bit wide-eyed and white-knuckled. I feel like life has a plan and I'm being asked to go with the flow, breathe, and be grateful.
A wise person recently shared a visual with me: a square with all the planning and preparation around the sides and an empty space in the middle. That empty space in the middle is where the magic, mystery and possibility arise out of what we don't know and cannot possibly plan for. I created the image above to remind myself when I am getting ready to facilitate a workshop or work with an art mentoring client, that I am not in full control and need to bow to the energy of greater forces. I need to adapt and trust that life is living itself through me, for me, and around me. I am learning to hang on and go with the winds of life instead of fighting for control. I share my "empty space" visual hoping it might help you in some way, too. : )

Winds of Change Are Blowing
The moving air around me
has given me new light.
I feel the cold air blowing,
into the solitude of night.
There’s something morphing, an odd sensation.
I’m allowing it to engulf me
A wind of change is here...
...As the wind blows stronger,
riding chaotic currents of air.
I close my eyes and absorb the feeling,
as I tie back my aging hair.
Change can be ominous, the unknown;
unless you can embrace it.
Don’t fear the wind, just let it blow,
and adapt your life to fit.
The wind of change is blowing
and it will help us grow.
New experiences to surround us,
through the darkness and the glow.

Kintsugi Breaking and Mending Retreats
in May and October 2022
Breitenbush Hot Springs
Friday evening May 20 through Sunday afternoon May 22. Retreat is full.
Friday evening October 14 through Sunday afternoon October 16, 2022
Details coming soon!
Come join us as we engage in the ceremonial art of Kintsugi to explore the brokenness that lives in ourselves and in our Mother Earth, and find the beauty and gratitude that resides there.
Many of us are living with broken hearts. We accumulate grief and carry it with us, often unseen and unexpressed. But grief can be a storehouse of power, a way to reconnect with what and how we love, and honor what came before. Grief can help us find the beauty in our brokenness, while opening us to loving more and being of greater service to the world.
Our broken and mended bowls become a gentle, visual reminder to embrace imperfection and look for the find beauty in brokenness.

GG's Art in an Upcoming Anthology
I am pleased to announce that one of my art pieces will be included in an upcoming book, Art in the Time of Unbearable Crisis
edited by Stephanie Raffelock.
Here is a description of the book: Art keeps good alive in the worst of times. In the face of ugliness, pain, and death, it’s art that has the power to open us all to a healing imagining of new possibility; it’s art that whispers to the collective that even in the ashes of loss, life always grows again. That’s why right now, in this tumultuous time of war and pandemic, we need poets more than we need politicians.
Art in the Time of Unbearable Crisis will be published in June. You can preorder a copy here or at your favorite local bookstore.
