Open pool sessions will be on Monday’s and Wednesday’s from 4:15pm to 5:30 pm at Hagerty Family Events Center. If you plan to attend, you MUST contact Head Swim Coach Sonya Whitman at [email protected] before coming so that we can ensure we keep an accurate number of participants.. Villa Maria Academy
Cross Country
Interested in running cross country next fall? Villa Cross Country is inviting all students who are not involved in a fall sport to consider joining our program. Running experience is not required. We ask only that you be committed to working hard and to being part of a team culture that is welcoming, encouraging, focused, and fun. Villa cross country has a long tradition of excellence and offers opportunities to athletes of every ability level. We hope you will consider giving it a try!

Voluntary summer practices began Thursday, June 18. We meet at Presque Isle Beach 1 parking lot (near the Runner's Club pavilion). Friday's practices will meet at Penn State Erie in the baseball parking lot. Practices will run from 7 am until 8:30 am. Please note that the following requirements must be followed:

· All athletes and parents must review Villa's COVID-19 Return to Play policy and bring a  signed  COVID-19 waiver form to practice both of which can be found here:  https://www.prep-villa.com/athletics/covid-19-athletic-waivers
· Upon arrival at practice, all athletes are to remain in their cars or at a proper social distance from one another until coaches are present and indicate they are ready to start. Athletes will line up --keeping at least 6 feet of distance between them. Coaches will take each athlete's temperature and ask a series of questions as outlined in the Return to Play policy.
· All student-athletes will have their temperatures taken and answer screening questions per the Return to Play Guidelines. If an athlete has a temperature of 100.4 or over, she will be sent home immediately. If her answers indicate that she has any potential symptoms, she will also be sent home.
· Athletes (and coaches) must wear a face mask and practice social distancing at all times (although the face mask can be removed when the team is actually running).
· Student-athletes must bring their own water bottles and will not be permitted to drink from drinking fountains at park (most likely not turn on anyway).
· Athletes must leave practice immediately after practice is finished.
· Parents are not permitted to congregate at practice area. Obviously, they are free to spend time on their own in the areas we practice -- so long as they are not near the team.

The Prep varsity cross country team is looking for new members. This Fall, the team drops down to PIAA AA competition. All incoming and current students are welcome to join us as we strive for our third District 10 title in the past 6 years.  Although no prior racing experience is required, we are looking for young men who are fiercely competitive, good teammates, and are not afraid of putting in the many, many miles of hard work it takes to excel in this sport. Exemplary sportsmanship is a must. We've graduated some key runners from last year's team, so there are opportunities for newcomers to make an immediate contribution to the team.
