DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
Incoming Freshmen Summer School Is Cancelled

We regret to inform you that due to the COVID-19 pandemic Cathedral Prep and Villa Maria Academy are not able to offer our in-person Math and Language Arts summer school program for incoming freshmen. Any incoming freshman with the summer school requirement will have that requirement waived and be granted acceptance. Once the school year begins we will provide additional support to students in need.

The Catholic School Graduation Scholarship is in the amount of $1,000 and awarded to one incoming freshmen from each Catholic grade school. The scholarship is in addition to the $3,000 CESP awarded to all graduates of Catholic grade schools in the Diocese of Erie. Recipients must be in good academic standing and were chosen based on an essay written on any subject of their choice.

The Cyterski Memorial Scholarship is in the amount of $1,000 and awarded to three incoming freshmen at Cathedral Prep enrolling from a Catholic grade school. The scholarship is based on Christian spirit and values. Recipients must be in good academic standing and have the recommendation of their principal and a grade school teacher. All incoming freshmen at Cathedral Prep and Villa Maria Academy are invited to attend the 11th Annual Party @ Presque Isle for an evening full of fun, food, games, and music by a live DJ. This is a great opportunity for members of both freshmen classes to meet each other and have some fun together before school begins.

The Party @ Presque Isle may have to move its location or may have to change the date due to COVID-19. We will send updates as we move forward.

Freshmen Scheduling
REMINDER
We want to remind you, if you haven't done so yet, to complete and submit your freshmen scheduling form. The scheduling forms were included in the packets mailed to families in April.


The scheduling packet includes a welcome letter, the tentative schedule, course descriptions, and instructions on completing and submitting the scheduling form.

Families are strongly encouraged to visit www.prep-villa.com/freshmen-scheduling for more information and detailed instructions on properly completing and submitting your scheduling form.

We understand you may have questions about placement, electives, and other schedule and school matters. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions. We are happy to make the scheduling process as easy as possible and look forward to ensuring you are satisfied with your child's course schedule.

Tuition Deposit Deadline
We would like to remind you, if you have not yet done so, that the $100
non-refundable tuition deposit was due April 20th. This is not an enrollment or admissions fee, rather it's the first $100 of tuition which you will see deducted from your tuition balance on your statement. Tuition deposits hold your child's spot in the freshmen class and assist with school planning and course scheduling.

Keep in mind that a student's course schedule can not be processed until the $100 tuition deposit has been received.

Tuition deposits can be paid with a check or a money order made payable to Cathedral Prep or Villa Maria Academy.

Uniforms

Villa Maria Academy uniform measuring night scheduled for May 4th and May 5th has been cancelled .

REGULAR UNIFORM:
  • Plaid Skort
  • White short or long sleeve uniform polo shirt with logo
  • Socks or tights
  • Sweater (choice of four; need to only purchase one):

DRESS UNIFORMUniform sweater and tights required  on dress uniform days.

SKORT LENGTH : Skorts much be no shorter than 4 inches above center of knee

SHOES:  Shoes can not be open-toed. Soles of shoes must be of shoe, not slipper, quality. Sperry Boat Shoes or Mary Jane type shoes are acceptable.

  • SOCKSWhite, grey, or navy socks, tights, or stockings may be worn. Only crew or knee socks may be worn.

Financial Aid
Although the Financial Aid Deadline has passed, Cathedral Prep and Villa Maria Academy are still accepting applications and awarding tuition assistance.

All applications for Financial Aid from Prep and Villa must be submitted through FACTS.

Middle School
Enrichment Resources
Some families have expressed concern with their sons and daughters getting behind academically due to the school closures.

To address this concern, the Prep and Villa faculty have compiled student enrichment resources which middle school students can access to continue their learning and strengthen their academic foundation.

8th Grade
Honors Program
Qualifying 8th grade students attending private and parochial grade schools are able to take high school math and science courses at Prep and Villa.

To be eligible, a student must maintain a “B” average or better in the course(s) they wish to take, score in the top 35% of the Diocese on the Terra Nova (or standardized equivalent), and have the recommendation of their grade school principal.

At this point all current 7th grade students that have been recommended to participate in the 2020 - 2021 Prep & Villa 8th Grade Honors Program have been sent registration packets. For more details please click the link below:

Cathedral Prep and Villa Maria Academy are proud to announce that in order to help families that are financially impacted by COVID-19 there will be no tuition increase for the 2020 - 2021 school year!
Change of Circumstances caused by COVID-19?
Cathedral Prep and Villa Maria Academy understand it's possible your financial circumstances may have been impacted by COVID-19 and we want to help.

If your financial circumstances have changed after completing your Financial Aid application through FACTS we encourage you to login to your FACTS account and make updates.

You can also visit www.prep-villa.com/tuitionhelp and complete the online form. All you need to do is enter your contact information, explain in your own words how your financial circumstances have changed due to COVID-19, and submit the form. We will make sure the information is taken into consideration when determining your financial aid award.
Although school buildings remain closed, the Prep and Villa Admissions Offices are still available to handle your enrollment needs. Mr. Tim Dougherty and Ms. Christine Uht are working regular hours and are happy to continue assisting with your enrollment needs during the global pandemic.

Scholarship Program
Cathedral Prep and
Villa Maria Academy are proud to offer the Catholic Elementary Scholarship Program (CESP) in which all incoming freshmen graduating from Diocesan grade schools are guaranteed a minimum of $3,000 in tuition assistance each school year regardless of a family's income. That's a total savings of $12,000 over four years! Qualifying families can receives thousands of dollars more in tuition assistance!

There are still many opportunities for students from public schools to receive assistance with the tuition and we encourage all families with questions to contact the Admissions Office at both campuses to find out what your family qualifies for.
